Here is an engine picture of the Colt I ran in Pro Stock in 1979 and 1980.

Here is one of the first day I ran the car. As you can see, the 4-link was not adjusted well nor the wheelie bars, and what a wild ride! After some extensive telephone learning from Clyde Hodges, I got to be be pretty good at working with the suspension!

That has a '74 front end, but from the side it looks like it is a '71-'73 version. Is that correct, Mark.
Mine is a '74

Mark who built your car - it kinda has the same hood scoop that Roger Denny had on his Colt - like 2 piece

You are correct that it is a 71-73 body, with just the 1974 grill and single headlights. From what I can tell, the 71-76 Colts use the same front fenders and hood?

You have a good eye. It was built by Don Hardy for Roger Denney in 1975, then he sold it to the Rod Shop. This is the "famous" black Rod Shop Colt that Bob Riffle ran 8.21 at a match race in Orange County in 1976.

In 1977, it went to Carlton to use as a PS match race car, as his altered wheelbase Colt wasn't popular with the track promoters as a PS match racer. Donnie went 8.08 at 169 in this car a week before his death. Someone already posted a picture of this car in white Carlton colors with Ronnie Sox's name on the window. The photo was taken at Indy in 1977.

I bought it from the Rod Shop in late 1978 and raced PS and FX in 1979 and 1980.

Stewart, I thought I read somewhere that your Colt was parted out and then scrapped. I hope I am wrong though.

I think Fred is mistaken - if it was destoyed then it was made into 2 rocking chairs. Both for us old farts - HemiFred and Myself -- :-)

At various times, I have heard that it was destroyed but have not be able to verify that, and hope it is untrue. I have seen some photos of a destroyed Colt, that was similar but thankfully, I do not believe that it was the Real Colt.
Nelson DesChamps was just a figure-head, because of family and business issues it was better for me to remain in the background. NO ONE owned the Missile nor the Colt, but me.
The Colt was built by Logghe and was the first Sox&Martin Hemi Colt. I bought it in mid-1974 when S&M were starting to close their operation. The other S&M Colts were built by Hardy. I think that Logghe built a few of them, but do not know for sure or know who got them. I also thing that Knapp was contracted by Chrysler to build 4 or 5 Colts. --History is sparse on these cars, most of what I know is either first hand or word of mouth. They are a unique piece of Chrysler History that has remained kinda mystery.

Mark's car looks like it has the Logghe style front fenders on it to me. I don't remember the other Colts having the huge wheelwells on the front fenders. The paint scheme looks a lot like Stewart's with the black replaced by the purple paint. Any possibility that is Stu's old car?
