Not to sound condescending, but who lets someone pick-up and take a vehicle without cash in hand?
Never, ever argue with an IDIOT. They will drag you to their level and then beat you with their years of experience

Not to sound condescending, but who lets someone pick-up and take a vehicle without cash in hand? I was wondering about that myself. Unless he got scammed on a fake check. It is either cash in hand or a bank transfer for me. Otherwise you will wait until all checks clear the bank before the vehicle leaves my position.

Scammer's prey on and purposefully expose over eager and inexperienced buyer and sellers. Well said and have may ways of making you think they're you're best friend. I had a hard time with a few customers that wanted to "MAIL" me a check. Always eager to pick the car up but then the check is no longer a priority to them 🤔🙄. Although there was one that it didn't matter as he was honorable and had well over 100 cars. The other point is, what happens if the person has an accident, dies unexpectedly etc. Are you supposed to knock on his families door and say I need the 5K that your XXXX owed me? IMO it's unethical to put a person in that position and there is a BIG CLUE there🎯 iIy right up there with contractor's, restoration shops etc. that say I need a 5K check to get started. WHY? do you have cash flow problems? Again where's your money if he files bankruptcy or dies? My wife has always said you don't leave the store without paying for the merchandise 😉

Many do not know the "True" time it takes for a check to really totally clear.

Many do not know the "True" time it takes for a check to really totally clear. This is very true. It can take up to 14 days or more. Always check with your bank what their holding time is to clear other banks checks. Don't trust money orders either. I always tell someone who wants to pay by money order, "you have to give the money order place cash, so why not save the fee and bring the cash.

At my last job before my " forced retirement " there were a few guys that were " less fortunate " than me on occasion I would lend them a few bucks until payday and they would always pay me back . One guy asked me for $10 he was a pretty good guy I thought then he quit for another job never paying me back , several of my co workers would see him and ask him for my $10 he always had an excuse why he didn't have it. One day he showed up at the workplace for something he saw me jumped in his car and sped off .. really over $10 ? Like the guy on here that scammed me out of $700 on a stroker crank a few years ago , I guess its just me but I couldn't sleep knowing I stole $700 from somebody .I do believe in karma and have seen it on a few occasions going back to bite someone I really hope it hits these two !!! My wife also has received threatening emails that turned out to be scams luckily she hasn't lost any money

There is a local guy. The locals probably have heard the story. Said local dude sold a block to someone that turned out to have a crack in it. The seller (said dude) would not refund the buyer his money back. The buyer learned the sellers daily routine and waited on a bridge overpass and dropped the block through the windshield of his vehicle almost killing him. He was hospitalized for a long time. Lesson learned, it is not worth it to try to rip someone off. Just be honest and upfront all the time.....Karma will get you eventually.

Yeah, sitting in prison for years for attempted murder is really karmic. As for the original post that started this thread, really? You let someone drive away with a car and no cash in your hand hand? That's a $5k lesson in not being a dumb@ss.
