This one brought I think 37k. May not exactly be free car wrapped around it, but you get the point. I saw many soft sales so far.

I can't see building that car for that if you did a lot of the work yourself...

I still think depending on the car you're further ahead to buy something complete...

I've built 4 1/2 so far because I didn't have the 37K to begin with...

That might be the car Roger's son built - or had built - he & Roger were at MATS some years ago with one.
Fun time that day hanging out with them, Cecil, and Herb, and hanging out at the water box watching some SS/AH cars run.

Maybe it’s the year to buy cars like these? You could take the engine out of this for your street car.

Do you consider this a quality built car?

Pics look pretty good?
I don't think you could build for 3x the sale price.
Unless there's major hidden issues, I'd think someone got a great deal.

Haven’t considered that angle at all. I doubt I could build a 500 with JE slugs and that Dana for much less or at all.

IMO it brought the money it should have. A less than desirable model in general. A lackluster powerplant, paint and bodywork that's mediocre and owner admits is cracking. A MS cage is ok I suppose. Yes you cannot build it for that but this goes to what I have said in other threads. Quality sells, average when it comes to racecars does not, especially if it is less than desirable body style. The purchaser I am sure is happy with it and he bought it for what its worth.

I have a dana I cannot GIVE away here, narrowed with strange internals, also a 9" thats similar that no one wants to pay for. Engine is nothing special for sure, stock block stroker. Buit, I understand what you are saying. Cant build it for the price especially if you cannot do the work yourself.

FWIW I saw the car at the Nitro Revival in Irwindale a couple months ago. It was dome OK. and ran mediocre for what it is IMO.

That kind of stuff might grow on cactus out west, but back east that was a deal. Even with say 2k shipping, just try and build that under 30k. I’m no saying it was some super car, but consider buying used parts one at a time. That driveline would take you at least three seperate weekends to run down, if you could find it within easy drive. You wouldn’t be able to hear it run, let alone drive around the block to listen for clunks etc. you’d never find an off year shell for 5k that would be decent. Then you’d need paint and body, at least that one is red and not some weird color. You’d have to install a certified cage. Wheels and tires aren’t free, even if that car needed new rubber it’d be a nonissue. I don’t think you’d find such a car with a close ask to that price either, not anytime soon anyway. For a guy that wants to race this year, that was about as good as it gets.
