so I am planning on swapping a 5.7 and 8 speed into an early b.
all the air cleaners I see sit where my battery sits now.
I see for the 5.7 at least the tb points straight out, the 392's all curve to the drivers side.

is there a different choice for air cleaners that don't take up my battery space?

It's a 90 degree elbow, just route it to passenger side?
Might need to get creative around the top radiator hose.

yeah, was wondering if I could turn the thing over and use it that way. or go down further and pick up air from under instead.
but was really hoping there was already someone that made something instead of having to be on the bleeding edge again. lol.

Nothing in the Gen 3 section about this ?
If it's side-mount, can you run a duct to it from somewhere under the battery tray ?
That could pick up fresh air from a couple areas, depending on whether you want to cut a hole or not.
Air filtration could be a cone or a cylindrical housing.

I haven't seen anything, except truck engine swaps had something different.
everyone else must have trunk mounted batteries and the air cleaner sits there.

Holley makes a relocation tray that puts the battery on the passenger side on an e body. Not sure if it would fit on an early B. On the e body it forces you to relocate the horns

On the 64 Dart I’m currently building I moved the battery to the trunk. Built a filter / air box where the battery was with holes in the to allow fresh cool air in from the grill area.

If that's the OP's intake style, a smaller battery - maybe moved down to top of the frame rail - might work.
A buddy has a Braille battery in his Dart, and it's quite compact.

seeing the dart pictures help. he probably has the same room I do in an early b.
can't push the battery closer to the firewall on that side since the booster is in the way.
going to the passenger size looks like I will have issues with the coolant hose.
might see if it can go short and put another right angle to put it to the other side of the rad support, but I think it would bottle neck it to make it through. and I would have to have a flatter air cleaner than the cones I have seen to fit.
ah well, this may need to be fabbed once I see it all in place.

No room down there. AC compressor is really close to the frame. I’m doing an early A body. Later As may have room. Here are a few photos of how tight the fit is.

curious why you chose the holley ps pump instead of the mopar one for crate motors, or did you use the whole holley accessory kit that moves it all in?

Not a crate motor. It’s out of a 2018 Charger cop car that was totaled. Engine has 38,000 miles on it. Only used the PS pump. Everything else is stock MOPAR.

thanks, was just curious.
They seem to make a ps pump that bolts in place for older car ps systems, but is marketed towards the crate motors.
diy hemi also offers the ps pressure reducer for older cars.

Yes I’ve seen the pressure reducers. Would have used one but there is no room for the electric PS pump.

You can fabricate something from universal kit parts like this one.

I think you forgot the link to the kit.

This setup doesn't take up battery space.

Those side intakes look out of place on a Classic Car. twocents

ah thanks.

as for the ram air cleaner, that would be nice, but the mopar crate ecu doesn't work with the truck engines for some reason.
diy hemi shows some but only up to like 2015 I think. not sure why.
I think I could figure out how to adapt the truck one to a regular air cleaner since it points straight up.

What does the ECU have to do with the air breather?

Just a simple 90 degree or so short elbow off the front of the throttle body pointed up to an air breather base is all it is.

it isn't just the ecu, wiring is different.
truck layout is different.
the tb is in the center of the top of the intake instead of the front.
alternator on the truck is where the power steering is on the car.
not sure where the power steering goes or where the a/c goes, but that is why the harness doesn't work, but not sure why the ecu doesn't, but it says only compatible with the car drop outs.
