I've got a friend who is looking at this car & I don't want to see him get taken. Dealer wants to trade him this RR + $15K for my friend's custom 71 Camaro (it's beautiful & well built). I've suggested this RR is a pig in lipstick - certainly not worth $28K ($43K asking minus the $15K the dealer would kick in). No underneath pics, no engine bay pics. In-dash gauges have dirty numbers & hazy lenses. Dash has a crack in the middle and appears to be trashed at the passenger end. Shifter is pitted and lacks a cover at the floor. What else do you see?

my eyes still hurt from looking at it.

You are right this is an excellent example of a perfumed pig.

Look at the picture with the passenger door open.
Everything is painted in the colour including the huge rubber seal and door latch.

Bumper guards on front bumper got painted, too instead of simply removed

front bumper is bent downwords in the center

picture 12 shows you that even the cabe for the emergency brake got overspray.

Interior is horrible but some would describe that as a question of taste.
Non original seats, wrong patern on rearbench, non original doorpanels etcetc.

Carsten

OMG. RUN AWAY!!!
That thing appears to be a total turd. If it looks THAT bad in the pictures, I can only imagine how bad it is in person. The dash is a total mess, not sure what is going on with the passenger side. Mis-matched lug nuts? Really?? Who is THAT cheap? Pentastar looks like it was painted over or something. Front bumper is definitely garbage. Hood Pins looks like something from a local hardware store (is J.C. Whitney still in business?). Are the seats from a UPS truck? I would not even want to see what the engine bay looks like. RUN AWAY!!!!

I'm confused on the math? Dealer is asking $43k and willing to kick in $15k?
So is the 71 Camaro worth $58k?

If the Camaro is worth $30k, great deal, effectively paying $15k for RR.
If it's worth $60k, no good, effectively paying $45k for RR.

The pedals don't appear to be b body of that era- maybe later e body or a body. No hump for the shifter. That car is a mess- and we can't see the half of it.

Any car described as "80 percent there" is an immediate red flag. There is so much wrong with this car. If the 71 Camaro is super nice, its probably worth more than this RoadRunner all day long.
And agreed....if the pics are that bad, its gotta be a hot mess in person.

If you're a member of B-Body Mopar on Facebook, this might be of interest to your friend:

https://www.facebook.com/share/p/152iiUvyZb/

Here's the text of the post in case you're not on Facebook:

I just banned High Octane Classics from the group for being rude to one of the members here, who had tried to school him on all things Mopar. He reported the member's comments. I tried to make nice with him but failed, and when he doubled down with his condescending attitude, I let him hit the road.
Businesses are welcome here if they also give back to the group. I had been watching that one and he was not giving. Problem solved.

Thanks to everyone who reports posts and comments. We admins try to stay on top of the group, to make it the best Mopar group around.

Between what others have already said about the car at High Octane and the dealer being booted from the Facebook page, your friend shouldn't even bother with that car.

Tell your buddy to sell the Camaro himself and keep looking for a decent Runner. This ain't it. No engine bay pics is a real red flag.

Even the perfume on that RR is poorly applied.
Really nice '70-'73 Camaros are low 40s now - at least the Z28s - and it sounds like that dealer is hoping to dump a sh!tbox and some money to significantly upgrade his inventory.

For equivalent value, the OP's buddy can do a lot better with some effort at locating.
If he wants to get off the Camaro, sell it and have cash in hand for a much better Mopar.

2nd gen camaros can bring serious money.
Especially if it's Z28 .

I know of a recent purchase 71 Camaro RS . 350 auto with air.
Guy paid in the upper 50s range I'm told

1970 Z28s are serous money. And 71s not far behind

The 72 Duster 340 at that place with the 340 1/4 decals on wrong sides. Nice attention to detail.

Lot of if's, I didn't see any mention of it being a Z28?
Whole deal depends on value of the Camaro.

But, since this is a dealer, you can assume the guy would be hit with a $20k loss.

Thanks to everyone who responded. I've copied & pasted all your comments & forwarded them to him. I'll let you know how this turns out. My friend said the dealer was willing to pay shipping for both cars NV/Calif area to Mass - yikes! Dealer must really want to get rid of that RR.

I'm betting an in-person review of any of the cars in this inventory would be eye-opening to say the least.

That car is a hard pass. Not even worth talking about it.

The Facebook thing is interesting. That dealer is the one Steve magnate used to pitch for. Shame he’d be involved with that kind of crew.

Also interesting that Facebook group had enough a MA dealer using the group and not giving back. I used to complain about that exact thing happening here and nobody cared. I pointed out the guy wasn’t even a sponsor and still nobody cared. I haven’t seen him in years and hope he’s gone for good.

After all the wise council, the guy pulled the trigger on the trade. He says it's just a toy and he's gonna drive the wheels off it. I told him by the looks of the car, that should happen rather quickly.. Anyway, I said if he's happy, I'm happy for him. We'll see if he changes his tune when they drop off his new 'toy' and haul away the stunning Camaro he said was just too nice to take a chance on driving it. Wow, just wow.

He is going to regret that decision. Once it shows up, I would like to see the look on his face. Up close, that car has to be horrible. I guess, to each their own. There is a sucker born every minute.

No offense to you or your friend but this is the perfect example of an:

Wouldn't surprise me a bit if High Octane Classics was one of the page's founding members then treated others the way the page's rules says won't happen. Eventually, the admin(s) bounce the member and that's all others see.

I didn't look at any of the pics, but, if that RR has a bunch of undercoat, watch out for rotted frame rails filled and covered with coating. Especially sort of fresh coating and a northeast US car... Poking those faux frame rails with a screwdriver can be incredible fun!

There were no chassis pics, trunk pics or even engine pics. This poor guy is in for a rude awakening.

The fellow says he has engine & underneath videos which I haven't seen. When I suggested the paint was a scuff & shoot deal vs how a $43K car would have been taken down to bare metal, etc., the dealer told him the car was taken in on trade and was put in storage - they didn't do anything to it (clearly). Plans are to add an Air Grabber hood and 6.4 supercharged Hemi. All I can say is, Too each their own and, Drive on my brotha.

LOL. So, not only did he grossly overpay for the car, but he is going to tear into the car and discover what a steaming pile he actually bought and then drop another huge amount of money into said steaming dungpile. Why in the world would he just have not bought a done (well) RestoMod?
