very nice! glad you put in the relays - i just installed relays, keeping my halogens and it made a HUGE improvement, so i'm sure upgrading the lamps would be even better when i get the chance

You really do not need the relays. Halogen lamps draw far less current than the old tungsten filament bulbs for the same amount of light. We used to use landing lights in the high beams on four light systems. They were 110 Watts at 12.6 Volts. A 55 Watt halogen draws half the current and puts out just as much light. Craig

The problem is these old cars do not get full battery voltage at the headlights. That's why the relay upgrade works.

Here's a novel idea, let's not throw a bunch of parts at the car hoping it will fix the problem and instead spend a little time diagnosing it first.
Life was a little easier when I was just a wrench.

Nice install. I'm going to do the same. The bulbs you received, were they an H1 and and H4 bulb?? What is the difference between H1 and H4? One more question, where did you get your relays from? Thanks
I couldn't say what the actual difference is, except that the H4 is for the low beams and H1 is for the high. The lenses are different, the H1 is more clear than the H4. bulbs for the H4 also are dual filliment as they change when the high beams are activated.
I got my relays from http://www.bmotorsports.com/shop/product_info.php/products_id/504
seemed to have the best price. Got all wire from West Marine, got the noninsulated terminals from

They never did, when new. I put relays in my Roadrunner back in the '70's, and could see a difference with stock headlamps. This was before the sealed beam halogens came out. I never ran Lucas or Hellas's but I sure used the hell out of 4537's!!!!
