I am thinking about changing out the cracked steering wheel in my 69 GTS. I have looked at Classic Industries,Year One and Mike Ross at B/E/and A...Prices fluctuate quite a bit! They all carry the blue 67-69 steering wheel for my car. How many manufacturers are making these wheels? Thanks! Ted

Most likely one. And mine cracked after 6 years.

For what you pay for one they shouldn't crack! I wonder if they fade like the originals...

Hard plastic steering wheels with cracks can be glued and repainted, and should hold up for awhile if done correctly. If you own a car that nobody is ever likely to reproduce a steering wheel for it's an option to consider. Biggest expense is the primer and paint + paying someone to spray it if you can't.

I have done several steering wheel repair and repaint. It is a pretty simple straight forward process just a little time consuming. They have held up well.

If you cannot do it yourself there are companies out the that do it.

I have a repop black steering wheel for 8 years now. My 69 RR sits in a cold wood garage in the winter. I just take steering wheel off and bring into my house for the cold winter. I also have a wood steering wheel. it is stored in my home also.

Mine was NOS 20 plus years ago.

Still looks like new

My Road Runner has a repo steering wheel in it. It hardly ever sees daylight, or high temps, and already has a hairline crack in it. It's not real noticeable, but it's there. If I were you, I would upgrade to a repo woodgrain wheel.

If you buy a repop steering wheel make sure that it comes with an ironclad return policy. The last repop I bought was splined wrong and the vendor wouldn't take it off. The wheel looked nice, but the spline was not cut correctly and I could not use it. So be careful. These wheels are all made in China and the Chinese make a lot of [censored] parts.

I bought a new repo plastic wheel for a Mustang years ago and it was a tad loose on the splines and eventually would work the nut loose. I think it did it because it was a manual steering car that required more effort to turn it. If it was power steering it might not have done that, or at least not as fast. I only had it for a week or so until I realized there was no fixing the issue. I returned it and used the money to buy an aftermarket Grant wood one that looked nice, but I could never get the horn button to work right.

I agree that if you buy a different wheel get it on the car and verify it's good before the return policy expires.

The wood grain wheels center ring aren't right as far as aligning the ring to the wheel. I had to drill and tap the holes to get the mounting ring to line up with the wheel. It was never going to be exact, and my OCD bothers me, but it will have to do. You would think that Quality Control would have caught it. But as far as I'm concerned there's none of that anymore, unfortunately.

Ooooh love it, I need one like it only black. The guy I bought my 66 from (dead now) had got a blue one at sometime (looks nos) I have it on the 65 for now since that interior is blue. The black original one has a crack in the center and a little out of shape, I’ll try to fix it first myself, heat it up and it can be bent-formed easily back into shape. If it doesn’t fix I’ll pant the blue one.

I refinished mine.

It was cracked badly and missing a few chunks. I used the PC7 epoxy that Eastwood uses in their repair kits but I bought it at the hardware store.

The best advice I can give is bolt it to an engine stand so you can rotate it easily while painting.

I know I was one Crane ductile iron rocker short a few years back as one of my brand new ones wasn't ground on the tip. I think it came from someone here on Moparts?!

I keep my eyes open for 66 wheels. Would love to find an original red one. SO far no luck.

Seems 67 wheels are not terrible to find. , especially in black.

67 and later will be 3 spoke

I think 65 is same as 66. 2 spoke

'66 C-bodies may have 3 spokes - I seem to recall Dad's '66 Sport Fury being a 3-spoke.
That's an old memory, though !
