A friend of mine is heavily into it and I've crewed for him a few times, and most recently at Road Atlanta earlier this month drove a stint for him as well. It's pretty incredible the amount of track time you get vs. what is spent, especially compared to drag racing.

I've seen a handful of Mopars at the few events I've been to, but the crown jewel was this 318 powered Dart. Anybody know who it is?

Here
I have attended a Chump Car series, which I believe might be very similar., It's actually a lot of fun to watch. Never a dull moment. I probably should volunteer to crew somebody and see it from the inside.
Pics below are infield practice at Daytona 2014?

Yep, ChumpCar is a similar vibe, although I have friends that have done both and say that people are edgier/more aggressive in ChumpCar. There is also a third cheap endurance racing series from what I remember, AER?

I don't think Lemons has made it to Daytona, but they do race at Sebring every year. The team I was on won B class with their '04 Mini this past year, which then immediately bumped it up to A class for the next race.

What I've read in different stories and reviews tends to reinforce that Chump series is more serious and dedicated racers and Lemons is more about the fun of it and perhaps being a bit ridiculous with your approach.

I've never run in them but have had it in the back of my mind for quite a while now. When I picked up my Challenger back in 2002, I was seriously considering using it for the Grassroots Motorsports Magazine's 2002 Challenge which typically takes place in FL. It is somewhat similar to Chump and Lemons in that the car has to be built for $20xx (whatever year it is), but unlike them, it is a multi-faceted effort that has an appearance judging, autocross times, and drag strip times as part of the competition. However, as time has gone by, I've decided not to sacrifice a pretty solid E body to that effort and instead am turning it into a street and autocross car.

That has left the racing bug in the back of my mind itching for something with some track time that is not as destructive as the oval track racing I did in the 80s and 90s. I've tried drag racing and love it and the cars and sounds and events but am not very good at it. And spending a day at the track and getting in 3-6 passes at 12 second each doesn't equal a lot of driving time. I also had to raise a family for the past couple of decades and am finding I'm not as interested in travelling to go tear up a car, so would limit my participation to tracks within an hour or two of my location. That means I may be considering a Lemons effort. It does help that two of my kids are itching for a crack at driving, there is a track near me that does this annually, and I recently acquired a somewhat rusty A body that may make a good candidate for such an effort.

I think we have a member on here that has built cars for these series. Perhaps someone remembers who they are. Have any of the Hot Rod tv guys run in these series?
