Installing "slider" calipers on my 69 RR - I have no instructions and the 70 FSM I have only describes the "pin" style. I did find a photo of how the clips attach BUT what the hell are these "rubber bands" for ??

I'm was guessing they are for anti-rattle and I know I probably don't need them but I'd like to know where they're meant to go. Being the shape they are leads me to believe the would be placed under the wide bracket before being snugged down. FWIW, they come in every kit !!

I found a video on youtube. They go ovver the caliper bracket ends so they sit in the crotch of the slider groove. Then the caliper goes on and I guess when everything is buttoned down they remove play and possible rattle. I don't think I'll bother with them - won't hear rattle over all the other noises !!

What he said. Note that any I have seen still on the car have been broken so I`m not sure they have a lasting effect on noise reduction

This photo shows how they install. I'm leaving them off.

I usually leave them off and lightly lube the grooved area instead

That's not how they install. nacho posted a pic right above your post that shows how they install.

the 2 pieces shown in the pic holding the caliper on the slides are the stock retainer/anti rattle clips and all that is used.

IMHO the rubber bands are china add on......after all where will they even go in the mix of things... caliper slide in slide ways... large bolt on piece retains caliper in slides... small bolt on piece keeps shoes from rattling. outside pads should also have tabs adjust for a tight fit onto caliper so pads do not drag on rotor.

seems I have been finding all kinds of useless add on stuff with cheap flebay stuff from china town now days.

well I do know never to say never with mopars but I have never seen any on any mopars I have worked on.

how were they installed in the mix of parts?

in the pic stanton shows I don't see how they can slide and would think it would cause the brake to drag on rotor when pressure is released.

puzzling indeed....

The rubber bands were broken on both sides from age and they just hanging on barely. Wish I would of took a pic.. That was why I didn`t see a need for them when redoing the brakes.
