It is a long Haul but maybe? It is very tempting because that is 4 new tracks I haven't raced at. That should get my total of tracks I have raced at to 31 or 32 I think.

My 11 year old son wants to go this time, he has been begging for awhile now. If he goes with my Dad and I then I have to put the back seat back in. I lose a ton of storage without that area so I would also have to work on a trailer setup. The car has a completely hidden hitch I did years ago but I do not have a trailer.

All the car needs is an oil change and a new set of 275 pros but I am sure that will change before September.

If all the stars align, and the almighty is willing to let me do this, I will give it a darn good try.

I have been looking into this for years as it is high on my bucket list, and I just booked a date with a chassis shop. And I found a victim that agreed to go with me for the week if you can believe that.

I have the 400/512 engine I am going to use all apart with some new parts on order. I will be pulling the 605 Hemi out as I do not want to risk it and put the little 512 in...

So to all of you that said don't cut up an original N96 V-code 4-speed Cuda with only 15k miles on it....well, I had it for sale, technically its still is....Come March, its going to be too late and it will get an 8.50 certed cage.

I'm only coming up with about 500 miles for the drive portion. I thought they were closer to 1,000 ?

I am sure they will add some flair in there to add some distance.

There was at least one year they turned seventy-five miles into close to two hundred. The actual distance between tracks means very little.

I was wondering if / when they were gonna bring it back to my part of country

What's involved in entering, should I decide to experience a new way to wear out -- or blow up -- my '73 ?

This ^^^^ , I'll do it in my 69 GTS , just need to decide stock 383 or 12.2 compression 450 stroker on E85 , assuming it's easy enough to find down there , it's not up my way.

E85 is not readily available in this area. You can find places with it, but it's not something I see on a regular basis.

Just looked over the results from 2024 and surprised to see a couple of 1320 Challengers competed. I suppose that's an option, although the newer car wouldn't be my first choice.

I wouldn't hesitate to take my '23 Scat Pak. Not trying to win any money. I just want a drag week participant sticker. I am seriously considering taking my '87 Monte CarloSS, but it doesn't have a bar. So I would have to lift on every pass to keep it @ 11.50. 3.42 gears, tight convertor, sbc, easy to get parts, fairly big trunk. PUMP gas.

Watch Hot Rod's email communication and social media- they'll announce when registration opens, it's usually at 9am on a Saturday early next year. You have to be on the computer or phone ready to register as they sell out the registrations within minutes typically.

That being said, if you want to risk it without registration, if you just show up on the sunday tech day, they've allegedly never turned anyone away who just showed up.

Either way it would be a bucket list kinda thing... the challenge (no pun intended) would be running the old car

I did a 500-mile 2-track weekend once almost 25 years ago in it, FWIW, although the car has changed significantly since then

Looking at last year's rules, I'm not sure which class it would fit; something like my using a non-OEM front chin spoiler might be the difference between being legal for one and not another

Taking the 1320 feels like it's just a matter of swapping wheels and throwing a couple of cans of Fix-a-Flat in the trunk laugh2

Did not know that but it's a long drive to take a chance on for me ... it's also a bucket list thing , I need to look at the rules to see where I'd fit , if at all ?

Don’t worry about the classes too much, as long as you’ve got drag radials there will be a class you fit in. Go into the first one with a goal of finishing and making friends, the rest is just a bonus!

I did mine on ET Street SS’s and didn’t even bother to change tires.

Its bugs me that they went to that standard even in the Pro Street & Gasser classes...Those cars never ran on radials back in the day. I will have to buy a set of radial tires and a set of rims just to join the party...Its their game, but it seems kinda silly.

My plan is to run Hoosier Quick Time bias ply DOT 16.5x31 for the street ride cause they have lots of tread in case of rain. And then switch to 315 pro radial on 15x12 rims if money allows. Obviously with a big offset in the rims. The smaller 29 Dia radial will bring up my race rpm a little, so the mild gears I run should make them about right for racing with the smaller radials. The 16x31's are actually small for my car already...

Never had a set, but they say leaf spring cars run well with them, so maybe we learn somthing in switching.

I should clarify - you don't need to run radials, it just can't be a regular DOT tire. It can be a drag radial or a conventional bias ply DOT or track only slick, just no street tires so the tread doesn't screw up the track prep. QT Pros, ET Streets, ET Drags, etc are all okay, either bias or radial. There is a width restriction on many of the classes though.
