Our season is well under way .
So time for me to get a 2nd event under my belt . Chasing National Drag Racing Championship points .
Racing @ South Coast Raceway , a regional 1/8 track . A leasurely 14 1/2 drive
. A couple extra hrs
on way there as 1 freeway was shut due to truck accident and google took me on the scenic route .
Anyway track is on the southerly coast of Australia , next stop is south pole . Normally weather is good but always windy or windier .
In 2 previous trips here I cannot hit the tree for some reason .
Saturday started wet and lost Q1 before rain blew away . So 2 quals only . Q2 Plymouth went 6.57 for #5 in field of 19 , Q3 was spin as track was cold .
Sunday - woohoo sunny drifting cloud , cool and dry . 5 rounds to go . DA is about 1500 lower .
Dial will be 6.54-56 all day
Rnd 1 is against a tough racer so its its on . He clipped me on tree but I drive around him on brakes for the win .
DA is holding steady @ 1000/1200 .
Rnd 2 . We are both ordinary on tree but I drive around him on brakes , win .
Rnd 3 . Race my mate also down from Sydney . He knows he has to push hard on tree . BOOM . -0.003 . Too hard .
Rnd 4 , semi . Have a bye into final . Run it out for a 6.52 @ 105
Rnd 5 , Final . Against a 7.25(?) car . I leave and cant catch him going through on brakes 1/2 car length or so behind . Shoot must have blown tree . Nah Stefan dropped a 0.000 on me . I had nothing .
So runner up . And still cant hit tree anywhere decent .
Dang that is 3 trips here for 3 runnerups . 3rd time is meant to be the charm .
Well thats done . 80 points in the bank . Now to look @ next month racing north in Queensland . Only 10hrs . BUT January in Qld means blazing hot .
