Fred, where you stayed was the Comfort Inn, there in Blairsville, right across from the Wyotech campus.

Another good place to check out is the Holiday Inn in Indiana, as well as the Best Western. There is also a Hampton, a Quality Inn, a Super 8 and a ton of locals. Indiana, Pa. is an easy thirty minutes away, and is home to a good sized university and has plenty of lodging for Indiana University of Pa's football and basketball schedule. It is about fifteen minutes beyond where you stayed in Blairsville. With the University being out for the summer, there is probably some good deals there.

You're saying "Indiana,PA is 30 minutes from the track? Is there any thing closer or is this the best alternative?

Greensburg is not very far away and has some franchise hotel options there.

No showers at the track.

Indiana is an easy drive....four lanes the whole way, not much traffic, it may not even be thirty minutes. The issue with Monroeville is that you are headed back toward Pittsburgh, and there is a lot of construction and big time traffic up that way. Greensburg the same deal, but a bit closer than Monroeville.

Im not sure if this helps or not but heres info about staying overnight at the track. Now this doesnt specify whether or not the Chrysler Classic is a long weekend but one would seem to think this race would fall into that category.
Maybe someone thats familiar with the Pittsburgh CC event like...oh...lets say a certain Bob George could help us out here.

PRP welcomes overnight camping when we have a long race weekend. However, if we are not open on a Friday, there will not be camping that night. There are a few Fridays that we have racing, and you are welcome to bring your motorhomes and such, but will be asked to pay a spectator fee to get in. The only way around paying a spectator fee is to come in when we are almost done racing at the close of the night. No exceptions. If you come in on a Saturday for a Sunday race, you will also be asked to pay a spectator fee on Saturday if you are not racing that day. The two times I went I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in Delmont about 10 miles west of the track.

Jim,
We have and are going to stay at the Holiday Inn Express in Delmont. It isn't very far from the track, is a nice place and has some good places to eat around. They had over 20 rooms last week, but they are $104.00 per night.

See you there,

Jeff

Holiday Inn would be the nicest, but books fast, and is pricey. Super 8 isn't bad, mostly construction workers staying there typically. Comfort Inn in Blairsville, easy drive. Personally, wouldn't drive to Indiana, I would go to Greensburg 1st, it is only about 15-20 minutes. I live in New Alexandria, so I have a pretty good feel on the area.

I spoke with Carmen from PIR today and he said a definately yes to overnight camping at the track for this event.
Heres some additional listings of hotels that have availability. I also included their rates & distance from the track.

As mentioned....
Holiday Inn Express-Delmont
724-468-1050/$104.00 per night/10 minutes
(only 7 rooms left as of 5-26-09)

Super 8-New Stanton
724-925-8915/$63.75 per night/30 minutes
(you must mention Pittsburgh International Raceway to get this rate)

Sheraton 4 Points-Greensburg
724-836-6060/$135.00 per night/20 minutes

Courtyard by Marriott-Greensburg
724-834-3555/$111.00 per night/20 minutes

Hampton Inn-Greensburg
724-838-8800/$125.00 per night/25 minutes

Heres some more Greensburg area hotels that are mid scale to economy scale which tend to have lower rates:
Comfort Inn, Rodeway, Knights Inn & Super 8.

Next year let me know way in advance and I'll set up a group block. This way you all can stay at the same place and it will be a bit cheaper too due to a multiple group discount.

Hope this helps,
Doug
