Saw this beautiful 1971 GTX U-code at the MCACN show in Chicago over the weekend. It's a VERY unique car that was ordered new by someone in S. Africa back then, and it had an option I've NEVER seen or even heard of before - a trunk dress-up kit. *The owner put some carpet over the OE trunk mat, but check out the cardboard covers that go over the wheel tubs & they also block the quarter panels. And the spare tire cover too. Anyone ever seen this before? What did this option cost?

Here's the spare tire cover. This car was loaded with options: factory air, PS, PDB, PW, Sunroof, cassette player/recorder, trunk package, cruise control. Oh, and on our way home heading south on 294 later on after dinner, guess who we see driving home in this car??? Just tooling along like it was any old car! AMAZING!
