Roadkill started out simple. Hot Rod magazine stalwarts David Freiburger and Mike Finnegan came together to wrench on cars, roadtrip, and create enormous clouds of tire smoke. The show quickly found a diehard fanbase that came to love the camaraderie and adventure as much as the endless V8-powered shenanigans. Now, sadly, we’re being told that it’s all over.

On Sunday night, we received the news that time was up for the Motor Trend show that started it all. Host Mike Finnegan took to an old Reddit post to announce the end of an era. “I just learned that it’s over,” said Finnegan. “After the end of Season 13, which we just finished filming a few weeks ago, there will be no new episodes of RK filmed.”According to Finnegan, it’s not just Roadkill on the chopping block. “The Motor Trend production company is shutting down… No specific reason was given to me for its demise. ” said Finnegan. “We had a an excellent run and I’m proud of what the team accomplished but this does seem to be the end of Roadkill… I’m unsure of who owns the Roadkill IP or who to ask why it ended,” noted Finnegan.

Can we get the Mexican cartels to help us with our supply chain issues? They don't seem to have any trouble getting stuff from one place to another.

Sad news!

Mike and David have taken to YouTube individually. I would still like to see them collaborate on some type of show.

Bummer. Viewing the MT & Discovery programs has been screwed up for some time.
When the Street Outlaws were in town @ Firebird, I had a conversation with Ryan Martin's wife about all that.
She said Discovery was in big financial trouble and soon wouldn't have automotive content at all.
SO went on YouTube and are looking to get expanded (streaming) programming on YT TV.
(Super nice gal to talk with, BTW.)
I'd rather watch stuff on the big TV screen than sit at the PC, so I hope RK & others can get a deal done.

We will see what happens when all the people that subscribe to Discovery, just for the automotive content, cancel their subscriptions. They will learn how much value there is in the tired "home improvement" dramas (or not).

When Discovery folded Motortrend TV into their streaming service I ended up cancelling my sub after trying to wade my way thru the drek Discovery has to find what I wanted.

The writing was on the wall back then, It was iconic, my girlfriend sent me a pic today of a repair job she did, called it a Roadkill zip tie moment.

I pulled the plug on these discovery clowns. I put the lack of motor trend content as the reason. When they moved it all to the garbage discovery app, they killed all but maybe three shows.

One thing I really miss, more than RK or anything else, is the auctions. You got the arena feed so it never stopped for commercials. I actually preferred that to their bs hosts anyway. With a Roku, it was super easy to blast it up on the big screen. Some weekends I basically left it running all day so I could catch what I could just walking through the house. Seems hard to find it on YouTube live streamed.

I want my fair share

Now if we the automotive community can find a way to add shiplap to our interiors, I think we will have a show the entire Discovery or Magnolia channels will broadcast!

I wonder if Dodge will go back down to 13 mile area for Woodward? Or will they just rename Roadkill Nights?

Stellantis is barely alive. I think all of that stuff is pretty much dead.

There is alot happening in a very short amount of time. All the bad news comes out right after SEMA so they can just slip it in with all the other "Wiz Bang" news that goes along with that.

I'll go through everything in more detail when I get home from MCACN. But yes, all of MotorTrend Originals are dead, and Both Hemmings Muscle and Classic Car are dead. But Hemmings Motor News survives.

I wonder if MT will sell the company-owned TV vehicles? It was always hard to keep up with which vehicles were owned by the hosts, which were owned by the company, etc. I think Stubby Bob and the Rotsun were MT-owned?

It's a shame to see these shows/publications end. Best wishes to all affected. I've subscribed to every YT channel I can think of related to these shows/hosts.

I have a only watched them a bit. Never been a big fanboy, but they often touched on interesting projects, albeit a bit goofy, and seemed to be more click bait offerings.
I am sorry to see it leave, and the above video is almost hard to watch as I believe it is sincere and watching the speaker nearly tear up on camera is bit tough to share.
Thanks for the memories guys, it was fun watching you guys have fun.

They own some of the cars themselves, others are owned by the company.

I had a feeling that was the last year for Roadkill nights, but I figured it was going to be Dodge that pulled the plug, not the Roadkill show itself. But regardless Dodge wasn't going to be part of that for long with no more V8's
