Not much news on these lately, any one drag racing a P7, or getting one together?

Bob Book built one with a cast intake, never saw dyno numbers, but I recall him being impressed with the power numbers.

There is a pair of CFE heads in someone's garage somewhere, that were ported for a A/EA combination some 15 years ago. I have the camshaft that was going to go into that engine. Probably won't use it now.

I plan on building something fairly serious, I'm slowly picking up parts as I go. Nascar heads, 16:1, billet tunnel ram etc.

As for numbers, Bondo Bob did an engine years ago, that ran Bill Davis Heads, with a cast single 4150, he made 900 hp.

If you really got after it, I don't see why you couldn't make somewhere around 950-1000 hp with a 358. Whether we see anyone do that, who really knows. People buy these engines because they're cheap, but often never set them up appropriately.

A buddy of mine has one on his engine shelf. It was an older P7 Petty truck engine that that made power in the 9000-10000 range. I always thought it would be good with a 5-speed manual like a Liberty or G-force clutchless that would keep the engine in the happy range with less RPM drop between gear changes.

Most all of them make power up there.
You have 358 inches and a 400 cfm head. They are by nature very high rpm motors.
