I am set to buy a garaged, low mile 2008 Dodge Caliber with the 1.8L.
It's out of state so I will be inspecting and buying it Sat if all goes as planned.
The car has a manual transmission, so I don't have to worry about the CVT complaints/issues
I know the sub frames rusted on the early models but the seller sent pics and stated they appear solid with just surface rust. I plan to use a rust convertor treatment on them
The car doesn't have a sunroof.

I'd like to know if there's anything else to be aware of ? Thanks

That engine is an absolute bag of turds, but on flat hiways with a stick, should yield good fuel economy if thats what your after. The cars are relatively inexpensive to maintain overall.

We had a 2010 for my ex, but it was a CVT. Only issue we had was it ate brake pads like candy.

I took in an '09 that my daughter-in-law had abandoned. A jump and it started right up. Unfortunately, it has the CVT but I believe it would run forever with a manual. I drove it from Frederick, MD to Baltimore for a doctor appointment. However, it went into limp mode with the transmission warning light on the way home. The next day, it started and drove as if nothing had happened. I serviced the CVT and it's been fine since. I just won't trust it for highway trips again. It's great for around town errands because I don't really care about it. The front subframe had already been replaced so that was a plus. What was bad was there are 14 bushings in the rear suspension. Two upper control arms, two lower control arms, two toe links, and the trailing arms. All my control arm and toe link bushings were shot and the trailing arm bushings weren't in good shape. On the driver's side, the control arms were easy and the bolt came out of the lower end of the toe link. I had to sawzall the upper toe link out as the bolt was seized into the bushing sleeve. On the passenger side, the toe link was seized at both ends and I wound up having to replace the trailing arm (about $85 off Ebay). I did have to slightly modify the generic Chinese trailing arm replacement with the sawzall to make the brake hard line fit properly but it wasn't too bad. At least it came with the bushing installed. It was a pain pulling the trailing arm to pound out the driver side bushing and pound in a new one. If it has a weird rattle over bumps that you just can't seem to find, I would suspect the sway bar end links. Ours has proven to be easy to work on. I've done the complete rear suspension, new rear shoes, rear brake hoses, one wheel cylinder, pads, rotors, struts, battery, injector seals, all 3 engine mounts, transmission mount. I have a pair of rear shocks waiting to go in.
