I found part of my build sheet above the glove box in my 69 GTS 340..It isn't in very good shape. Between the sheet and my fender tag where can I get a repop sheet? Cost? Thanks! Ted

Somebody is making them - they get called out from time to time in the "WIW" section.
Definitely keep your original, of course, and supply a copy to whoever that person is that's making them.
Barry (Alaskan_TA) might know who that person is.

As soon as you start talking about reproduction build sheets you get people screaming about bogus documentation.

Thanks guys! Does that mean that I have to take pictures of the transmission numbers,engine numbers,and all of the body stamps to prove it's a real GTS 340? I don't want to piss off the numbers police..

It really means you have what you have and making a reproduction is not proper IMHO.

If everyone made Broadcast sheets up then the hobby goes just a little further down into the crapper.

I guess this matching numbers car stuff isn't for me. I just thought it would be cool to have a sheet that shows what the car is and it's equipment. I really am starting to miss the comradery of drag racing. My car is not a 100 point show car nor will it ever be. It's just a cool day two modded Dart GTS 340 that has it's numbers matching engine and trans.

Unfortunately the scammers and "inventors" have made reproduction documentation suspicious.
I personally can see where a clean copy of true documentation has merit, but some guys don't.
It's of course wise to document your car if it's a #s-matching car in any case.

I even have the original Iowa inspection copy from 1981 when the original owner sold it...I'm sure glad I bought it to enjoy and drive. I like going to cruise ins but find car shows kind of boring..

Same here, I'd rather go to a cruise than a car show or the race track even if I'm just hanging out with buddies that are racing.

Too many people at car shows are looking for ways to find fault with your car.

I agree Rich! There is always something going on at the track. I really miss the sport but my wallet doesn't!

You don’t need a build sheet to enjoy your car or even sell it someday. It does make some difference in value but with all the things you have, it’s easy to prove that it is a real car. The problem we have with all this reproduction documentation is what I ran into the other day. It was a 70 RTSE Challenger with every possible option. It had very bad fake fender tags AND a very bad fake VIN TAG. The body numbers matched but I didn’t even look at the motor or trans. It was a made up car that the guy was bragging on because he got such a good deal. He had another Challenger right beside it with the fake tag still in the envelope on the dash. The reproduction documents are so prolific in the Corvette world, there are more 67 427 Corvettes out now than Chevy produced. Years ago somebody on Moparts had a buddy with one that was rebuilding his matching numbers 427 for a car he just bought and the casting numbers came off when he put it in the vat because they were made of body filler.

The sheet on my Superbird was loaded into the printer wrong so I am missing the top two lines with all the good information on it. It just the way it is.

Just list the option codes on a car show storyboard.

The buildsheet needs to be decoded anyways to communicate what the equipment the car has. So you are right back to listing the deciphered codes. The top part is arguably the most important part. Shows color, trans, rear end, etc...

You would photoshop your original top showing ripped edge on over a faded away (ghosted) bottom with your codes filled in. Shows you have the real top and real fender tag (show copy of that too). Then shows your projected bottom from what you know.

I dont have the original build sheet for mine.
I do however have the original fender tag AND the IBM card from Chrysler

A reproduction sheet, if you can get one, would cost you a couple hundred ... or more

Whomever makes it don't care about numbers on your car or anything else ... they only care about taking your money ...

Broadcast sheet Jim who is in Florida makes broadcast sheets. $300 IIRC. he's well known in the Corvette community as a Corvette cannot be top flight judged without a broadcast sheet and they are "approved" for judging. He can even age them with seat spring marks and all. Can't tell them from an original as they have the correct paper and font. I've seen a few cars in person with them, funny how a TA challenger that been rotisserie restored and several owners never had a broadcast sheet then suddenly the newest owner takes the back seat out and "finds the original one".... Look on E-bay, he usually has them on there..

Reminds me of the CEO of a big company interviewing for a new company accountant. He's gone through dozens and dozens of interviews asking just basic math problems and every one of them is spot on with the answers, but he turns them away and asks for the next job seeker. Finally, one potential accountant walks in and the CEO asks "How much is ten plus ten"? To which the interviewee responds, "What do you want it to be"? He got the job. "I'd like to BUY a broadcast sheet".........what do you want it to..........................................

I won't spend 300.00 for a sheet...I guess this idea is done.

Hey Ted, just have some fun with it: make one with crayons & pencil that looks like a 1st-grader did it, and put it on the dash or window at Cars & Coffee or whatever.

If you just want to have a nice run down of what the car has, get a window sticker for 40 bucks. I got one laminated to tape on the window at cars and coffee. It looks cool and isn’t going to be taken as a fraud attempt. I made up a funny dealer from Beverly Hills for it as my car is gold and from CA. I’d have to look back at who I used, but they were easy to find on Google.

Back in the 80's there was a 71 Road Runner that was in numerous shows. He displayed the build sheet with a "6" that was put in for the air grabber hood(N96). Clearly you could see it was not original. Have you looked for the other build sheets? Behind the back seat, Top of the glove box, Under the carper and sometimes in the front seat backs. My 71RR I found 3 of them but the one on the glove box was in the best shape(other than being crumpled). I can see where having a "new" build sheet or window sticker would be nice to have. But it would have to be authentic to the car. If you are selling it I would think most buyers know what to look for to spot a fraud. I don't think someone is going to take what is on a reproduced copy for fact. But there are people that will do it just to cash in. I don't see anybody reproducing what time has done to the original build sheets. So if you have one original to the car you are golden.
