Heard from a knowledgeable source who claims Bucky has a lockup convertor in his car.
Cant swear to it being true, just what I heard.
For the record, lockup verts are illegal in super stock

The conditions at Maple Grove were worth close to 3 tenths vs Indy. That is some killer air.

He was Foot braking at Indy too. Was he doing the same at Maple Grove?

Same person who told me about the lockup convertor told me why he was footbraking, but for the life of me I can’t remember. But there was a specific reason for it, and it was convertor related.

It's incredible that we might see an 8 teen out of a SS/AH car in the next year or so. With several cars running a mid 8.20's @ 162 mph there, it could be any of them really. I know the conditions were great, but it's amazing it's still a possibility.

Alan Reinhart the announcer was trying to get them to come out on Sunday and put down a killer pass . I saw Bucky watching by the fence but I think his rig had left already as I didn’t see it . Comellas Cars were both still there has he was running Super Stock Eliminator with the Dart . Chuck commented on their Facebook page about the Final .. he did have issues on a few passes getting the car to hook .

Sounds like an angry 4 speed guy lol.

I haven't been able to watch the video but with a high stall converter it would for sure sound like it hit another gear when it locks up. It would also be easily identifiably by looking at the converter.

Haha… it was a stick guy. He said if you listen, it indeed sounds like a 4 speed automatic. Not sure if the convertor has been cut open before or not.

How can you tell if it’s a lockup by looking at the outside.

I am just assuming but I know he isn't using a stock 727 converter out of whatever car or truck came with that option.

Locking one of those things up at god knows what RPM isn't going to be easy, I would imagine it has something like the attached image from ATI.

I think the most likely scenario is that the car is perfectly legal and made a killer run in killer conditions.

Bucky's car, flat out 60's every car in the field with the auto. He's been doing this too long, to cheat IMO. Every SS/AH car on the property was fast this last weekend. Was good to see Mike Booker put up impressive numbers.

David Barton was driving Booker's car.

Is a 727 bellhousing deep enough to even hold a lockup?

I'd imagine not, they'd have to run a spacer.
