Question. Car has a "scheduled" Build date - March 2, 1969. What is reasonable date code for an engine ? Thanks Not sure if this helps. But I have a 340 and is a complete 69 long block. 9-11-68 with a vin number LM23P9B209857

Thank you. So that engine is for a swinger, earlier build than my car ? Yes it is from a Swinger and yes earlier build. They quit using full vin Jan 1st of 1969 so your car would only have last 8 of vin on block

I've been looking for the original block for my 69 GTS convertible since 1995 with a VIN of 9B306021 and figured the casting should be around Feb 10, 1969. If you guys work a deal I can bring it up north...

I'm not on FB, but I can see a few posts there before it shuts down. Interesting ad. Pricey. Advertised as a 68 block, stamped as a 69, and cast as a 67. If I"m seeing things correctly. appreciate it. Yeah, that one is quite unusual but the VIN stamping looks correct. Chrysler didn't have FIFO back then, so early blocks like that could have sat around for a while...

Good memory ! Lol. 5 months from the casting date ??
9B384169
Thanks JB Thanks! I am stll trying to narrow down the casting date of the engine that would have come from my 69 GTS convertible 9B306021 and this one is later...

This finding the original motor or even date coded correct is looking like finding a needle in a haystack, but an interesting challenge though. Probably should start a thread somewhere else, but is there a pathway to figure out where a car was originally sold, buyers/sellers........ ?? Well I have been looking for my original block since 1995 with no luck, I think it is easier to find said needle! I have listed the VIN everywhere it can be listed, in our own Lost and Found section since the late 90's, every group I am a member of on Facebook, and several other Mopar sites. You can talk with the local DMV to see if there are records but that too it a tough road to hoe...
