Wow, congrats!
How about a play-by-play?
It was pretty hectic for sure. We left late friday , did not get there until 11:30pm friday night Had to sleep in the truck at the gate.
Sat am had to run the valves and check the springs real quick. Made the first test hit, car went right down on a soft tuneup because i had changed the nitrous jets to try and clean up the fuel a little. Next test hit we added some timing after 1.03 sec, but it spun because the track was not consistent from the first test hit SO we knew that we would be hit or miss on the track prep. For first round i took out some timing in the begining to make sure it went down. ALso loosened the front shock just a little .
First round i drew Leon, not an easy draw for sure. We went right down even though the track was marginal. I cant say the times because its a NO time race.
Second round i drew Dan Vanhorn, challenger with a gen 3 hemi. It was going to be a very close race as we pretty much run identical ets. However Dan had a problem and i had a competition bye. I had added some timing from 1.03 on and it really woke the car up, we picked up 3.6 mph .
Third round i drew the bye
Final round i had to run a Duster , and honestly dont know the combo, but i won that, even though i spun down track Data log showed the driveshaft and rpm shot up at 3.3 sec into the run. The RPM spiked from 7200 to 7800, i lifted and put it in neutral, clicked it off and coasted through for the win.
It was tough all day because you didnt know what surface you were getting, sometimes they did a full out prep with the rotator and sprayed it, some rounds they just dragged it. Really had to leave soft , although we did manage a best 60 of
1.12 and the slowest was 1.15
