My friend gave me back a transmission from a truck I sold him and parted out. Was good condition and worked well. Was behind a slant six 1970’s truck (could have been swapped) but it works and he just wanted only the slant six parts and it’s just the trans. Not sure if it has any value, but hate to just throw it in our scrap pile. Any idea what it’s worth?

If original, that would be the A-230. I looked for a long time to find this one, found it in a U-Pull-It wrecking yard. Check E-bay for current asking prices.

Is there something that makes it truck specific vs the ones put in the mid 70-s cars? Id have an interest if its the same. Ive a mid 70-s rig built for export car thats coded for the 3 speed manual trans.

Took me 2 years to sell a mint A230 out of an E-body for $125 including the floor shifter.
That was about 3 years ago.

I hate just throwing usable stuff away, but I'm tired of holding onto "just in case" stuff too.
So it depends on the amount of storage room & patience you have, I guess, whether you scrap or wait.

Same here, had an A230 from a '70 Road Runner. I figured someone doing a resto might need it. Took it to Carlisle, listed it here, had it on eBag, not even a glance, let alone an offer. I ended up delivering it to a member here, gave it to him, happy to see it go.

When you have most of the lil parts to convert an automatic car to manual that can nickel and dime you it adds value. Mine sold for $250 with shifter and rods, the bell housing went for as much (but I detailed the parts)

Grabbed a couple quick picks before I head off to my night shift.
