That’s great video…a real window into the past with a lot of familiar names. My family still says “slow down Parnelli!” when someone is driving too fast or aggressively. that reminded me of an incident my younger brother was involved in around the 1980ish time period. at that time, he worked in the same machine shop i worked at during my almost 50 year working career. he worked the second shift, while i worked the "hoot owl" shift. the shop was 26 miles one way from my home to the parking lot, and little brother had about the same commute. we traveled the interstate exclusively, as it was the best and fastest way to get to work. at that time, however, there was work being done on the west bound lanes [going home] from before the interchange we used to get on going home, and for several miles afterward. as it was constantly shifting lanes, the lane closures were marked with traffic cones. as little brother got off around 1am, there was [at that time] very little traffic most nights. one night, he decided to see how "good" his 1971 satellite sebring plus 2dr [roadrunner wanna be] would do in a "slalom" course. having a blast weaving in and out of the cones at speed, he didn't notice the state trooper parked in the median turn around. well, as expected, the trooper didn't see any humor in little brother's antics, so he pulled him over............ after the usual "license, registration, insurance information" drill, he asked little brother what he thought he was doing ? little bro replied that since there was no traffic that night, he just wanted to try out the "handling" of his car, just in case he had to someday do an "emergency maneuver" to avoid an accident. since there was no traffic, he thought it would be "safe to do this on this night", and he wouldn't be endangering anyone. [my brother can spin a convincing tale when he has to, so today, he is in charge of an almost one billion dollar operating budget for southern cal edison, and has been working for them for over 30 years.] the trooper replied : "who do you think you are ? Parnelli Jones ?" anyway, little bro was let off with a stern written warning, but this episode in his life always brings up chuckles when [what's left of] our family members bring this up to this day.

First time I laid eyes on Roger Penske was at the infamous Sebring 12 hrs in 1965 when he was crew chief for the Jim Hall Chapparals. This video records probably one of the very few IMO race mistake the man has ever made, the one side rain tire mid race trick attempt. Not sure what the problem is for some to view the video the clip. Sorry.
