I knew it was coming for a while now, he was 16 &1/2 years old, but it's still hurts losing him.

His name was Jax and we got him from a shelter 16+ years ago.

He's been on medication for dealing with a hyper-active thyroid for almost 3 years is the only reason that he's lived this long.
We recognized the symptoms because it was what our last "old man" cat died from right after the pandemic started.

I know I'm going to miss him and the way he would snuggle up next to me when I go to bed.

RIP Jax. angel

A pic from his younger days.

So sorry to hear this Snk Eyz. We love our kitts too. I hope you'll have an easier time than me.

I didn't post this before, but on 8/28 we lost our sweet little Lucy - she was only 11-1/2. Since late June, she started pawing at her mouth & crying out in distress. She would have episodes of this, but otherwise seemed fine. We got her into two different vets & they thought just something with her teeth. The second vet (our regular one) did a dental on her & pulled all 4 of her canines, & a molar. Still, after 3-4 weeks, she was still having the same symptoms, plus now she was having trouble eating. She took X-rays & her left jawbone was enlarged - the vet thought maybe from an infected tooth, so she was on antibiotics for 3 weeks. She said there was a slight chance it was some kind of cancer. Well, it turned out to be cancer. About 5-6 days before her end, she couldn't eat anymore or drink, & she was losing weight. On her last day, she started getting pneumonia - there was this terrible rumble in her chest when she was breathing. We did not want to see her die suffering like this, so around midnight, we took her to an emergency vet & had her humanely euthanized.

She died in my arms. It was the hardest & most sad thing I've ever experienced. Lucy chose me as her favorite when she was a kitten, & she would come running whenever I got home from a business trip & I'd have to pick her up & hold her & she would just rub my face with hers. She'd sleep with me every night - curled up against me. She was born with acute Rhinitis which meant her nose was always running - there is no cure. We would be wiping her nose many times every day, & sometimes we'd have to steam her in our downstairs bathroom so she could breathe better. She was a lot of work, but it brought us all very close to her. She was the sweetest cat I've ever seen & we are all having a very hard time coping with her loss. It's just now that I can even start talking about it. It haunts me every day that she is gone. I'm expecting to see her around the house, but no more.

So sorry to hear this - those have been the worst days of my life, been through it several times.
It's actually worse for me than when people pass on.

It may sound crazy, but it's been like this for me too. Plus the older I'm getting, the harder it's getting. I've had other cats pass away too, but not any I was as close to as Lucy.

Sorry to hear about Lucy. RIP Lucy. angel

Watching them slowly pass is excruciating, it just tears you apart inside to see them like that.
