I've seen photos of a Charger for sale with the faded paint, as shown in 1 photo.
I don't recall if it needed quarters or being disassembled.
If the ad is legit, that's a cool car that deserves a proper restoration.

Well I got ahold of this guy and was able to get a look see. Only got a quick look but would like a what's it worth now. . It needs more than than ad sad. To do right if definitely needs everything from rare axes back. All metal! Rails trunk drop offs rare cross over.trunk lid missing. Everything. 1 front fender is missing. Doors are ok? Hood workable. Center floor could be saved I guess. It's has a bad seam behind driver seat where the two back and front panels come together. Front Foot area actually not to bad.has a 383 in it now grill is busted up but repairable? Interior is all there and dash is decent no cracks. Front windshield cracked. Eight and three quarter sure grip. I noticed it will need the driver side iner front fender replaced but front Rails good. Trying to work out a deal with him. I know charger prices are crazy but with all the work this needs ( and I do 80% of it myself) I don't want to over pay! What is a fair price?

Unless one wants to build a '68 Charger from the ground up, that sounds like a gigantic project.
Sure was nice when it was new, and highly optioned.
Basic formula for a fair price on a project :
Determine market value of finished vehicle, determine & subtract costs of attaining that level, and there's the fair price.
But it's not that simple: unforeseen expenses are the bane of any project, sometimes 10%, sometimes 30% additional, maybe more, depending.
Sentiment & desirability are factors, of course, and then there's time: whether one most enjoys the process or the result, and has the time to devote to the project.
That car, it seems, will take a HUGE commitment to bring back.

Interesting that the package tray area is green...but I agree, the cost to make this car right definitely outweighs the end value. Unless...people are paying stupid prices for resto-mod modern hemi swapped Chargers, maybe the value is going that route if you plan to resell it. I would pass on it as well, mainly because I have to farm out structural work, and it sounds like it needs alot....

Thanks for the replies. I'm going to pass. I'd love to do this car. I do 80 % of a restoration myself. I enjoy the metal work, just can't paint. If I was to buy this I would be doing it to keep. I offered 15k he said he has a standing offer of 17.5 now ? So he's ether holding out for more or going back and forth between a couple of us to see if we will out bid one another? Or Bs~ ing? But as someone previously said * what a beautiful car once finished. ;b........... 3 weeks ago I picked up a 69 super bee in same condition running, ram charger hood with all the under hood air boxes same color 1 owner #matching. Wasn't advised ( a friend was painting this guy house and saw it in the garage and ask if he sell it then called me. Guy said he bought it on his birthday in 69. Went in to buy a 69 charger but ended up buying this bee being 1400 less! I got it for a thousand dollars. Air cleaner still present dash with tach like new. Crazy , 24 thousand more for this 68 rt today?

Honestly, that cost difference is reflected in the end cost of the Charger RT as well. It will bring more than the Bee by a long shot. I say you hit a home run on the Bee. You could always sell it for $25k and buy the Charger. That way you’d start out with a $1,000 Charger. That’s how I’ve paid for all of my car collection.

There's a '69 Charger on Hemmings with a current bid of $17,000 that's MILES better than the subject car.
For comparison:

I don’t play games like that. I tell them I’m here today, you can have my deal today. Your other deal might be up in smoke already. People back out. They die. Their wife finds out. They lose your number. I’m here right here and now. I’d say it’s about 50/50 in these games working out for me or I lose out. But not really, I’ve never overpaid in such a scenario and overpaying what I think any given thing is worth is a loss no matter how you slice it.

The bee was a steal and is probably worth doing with that starting price. Usually I see those for like 20k and it’s not worth it.

I want my fair share

Funny.. he message me back yesterday asking if I'm not interested? I told him that I gave him my offer? And if he actually has a offer at 17.5 he better take it. I also explained that market place is just like that .. first few hours with a car like a rt charger your phone blows up! 20 people telling you they 100% will take it . But it ends up with maybe a couple if lucky? I've had this problem with a couple mopars in the high teens low 20s ( I had for sale) and the problem I've found is people don't want to pay cash? It's like impossible? Wanting me to let them drive the car in 0* weather to their bank 3 hrs way ? I've even offered to trailer it for them and this guy insisted on driving it? I've called this last guy back myself and told him forget it! I sold it to someone for CASH! SO YEAH..I told him I'm a cash buyer today. Tomorrow I might not be ? Good luck with all that! I can't imagine how one sells a vintage Mopar that's 50? 60? And up? Try finding a cash buyer for that! Better off trading?
