Sounds normal. I notice many older people that were heavy going into there 60-s lighten up. Both male and female. I think many realize the extra weight just dont work well for them any longer.
Glad to see you doing it now when its just a back issue vs a heart issue.

i'm only 5ft 10 or 6ft, depending on who is doing the measuring and how. when i was working, i was always around 215. now that i've been retired for many, many years, i run around 185-190, depending on whose scales are being used. [my wife always says i carry around 10lbs of junk in my pants pockets. ] i could stand to loose more weight, but i only eat one meal a day now, and it's not a big one. my back has hurt for years because of severe arthritis, but i know way too many people that has had back operations for various reasons, and they all say their backs are worse after the operations ! so i just grin and suck it up...........

I am your age, and your right, extra weight sure slow a guy down, physically and mentally. I hang in that 190-195 range, and have a really good masseuse. That, and I've tried working smarter, not harder the last few years. My father was a hard working German immigrant who abused his back for years. He is paying for it now, but a healthy as a horse 86 year old, otherwise. Keep on your plan and goal, its hard, but well worth it. Jim

If you think about it, we only have so much circulatory system, oxygen-processing, internal organs, and a given amount of structure to keep our body mass working properly. If you're carrying around more than your proportional weight, you're taxing those systems, and there will be side effects that accumulate. There's a reason why a proportionate weight is called "fighting weight". I also find it curious when a really overweight person spends a lot of money to make his car faster, but is himself adding ballast. To be fair, some genetic compositions are prone to being "plump" - my Mom's side of the family really had to watch their intake. I've found that big dinners merely add weight.

Good, I bet you do feel better! I'm 6'5" and at my heaviest I was 348 lbs...finally hit me that I needed to do something. I was usually around 310-320 when I played football and just never lost it. I'm down to 260 lbs now and feels a whole lot better.

I'm doing the Carnivore with a side of Keto diet. Been on it since the Fall and have lost a little over 30 lbs, most of it in the first 6-8 weeks. That puts me at 220 now, +/-. Never hungry because you can pretty much eat all the dead mammals you want until you are full. The biggest benefit for me is my blood sugar is back in the normal range. Before, my A1C was in sight of Type 2 territory.
An acquaintance of mine lost 75 lbs in 5 months on strictly Carnivore. He was a card carrying, on Insulin , Type 2 diabetic and now he isn't diabetic anymore. He was over 300 lbs when he started.
Kevin I had a choice, more diabetes medication(robelsys) on top of the two I already take or change my diet. I went Keto, lost 20 some pounds, and now my A1C is rock steady at 5.5. I have about 10 more pounds to go, but I eat like a horse on Keto, bacon and eggs every morning.
