Read this Sun morning. Nice Duster leaving car show ate it when losing control doing a burnout. What is maddening is a female friend of the owner is blaming the wreck on fresh blacktop that "Altered Traction". Also she is blaming the "Lack of Power steering" also contributed to the loss of control. Some Tard commenters are replying how hard it is to control a car that doesn't have power assist steering.

Defending female friend posted:

"He did a burnout yes but when he let off the throttle the back wheels broke loose. And because of the new black top and the fact that the Plymouth duster doesn’t have power steering he bumped the curb and lost control. I was there. It was after a car show."

Low performance drivers in a semi high performance car don't have a clue how to drive them at higher than normal speeds with less than normal high traction straight head driving, SHAME on them down puke tsk

I'm not accustomed to seeing an old Mopar eat it- let alone in this manner in my town. YouTube is LITTERED with Mustangs of all years crashing while leaving a car show.

Keep old mopars alive.

Some are never taught to accept responsibility for their own actions. But i doubt he will ever do that again tsk

Reminds me of my (ex employee) nephew. built a beautiful 65 Biscayne BB 4 Spd car. Long story on how badly he screwed me over but due his Being Smarter Than I, he had rented a storage bay in a BRAND NEW facility to keep the car in. After a local evening car show he took the car back to the storage unit.
About 4 AM they get a phone call that their unit is on fire and the FD is enroute.
The car was destroyed (Karma?).
He claims someone dropped a cigarette outside his unit and that started the fire. Also claimed 4 units burned.
We took a drive by,
There was NOTHING combustible within 1000 ft. of the facility or his unit. Blacktop, concrete and metal
Only ONE unit showed signs of smoke/ fire, His
He's a smoker that uses the window for his ashtray
Pictures of the car to me, indicate it burned from the interior out as that was the hottest area.
I highly doubt it was electrical as I taught him well on crimping, soldering, routing etc.
MY GUESS? he tossed one out the window and it went in the back seat.
He always had an excuse and it was ALWAYS someone else's fault. I tried very hard to make him realize, It's OK we all screw up.

But after 15 years of well compensated employment + ~ 100K in help, he lied and thieved all the way out the door. He had a Website and FB page up in direct competition with me less than18 hours later.

As stupid as I sometimes am, I really wanted to reach out and say, WE can fix this together. BUT, I found my arms were too short from having reached out so many times before. 😢

Even if nothing had gone wrong (agree on the insufficient talent), burnouts & gunzeling around are a good way to ruin a Cars & Coffee.
Whoever owns the space being used is definitely NOT gonna be fond of complaints or damage.
As for the expert analysis by the girlfriend, that's just stupid laugh2

Went to another car show today. Plenty of high horsepower cars with street tires on the rear. What a JOKE! Burnouts are the ONLY thing those things can do. Some are down right dangerous in the wrong (talentless) hands.

It's a shame what happened to the Mopar.

Master, again and still

If you're doing a burnout, aren't the back wheels, by definition, already "broke loose"?

Guys have been wrecking really nice cars while showing off and screwing around since forever. Just because you can afford it doesn't mean you can drive it.

Main difference now is that there are more cel phones and cameras to capture the buffoonery.

It's a lot like airshows. If you added up all the amazing aircraft that have been damaged or destroyed showing off during airshows, you'd have one of the world's greatest air forces ever to exist.

I'm wondering now if they were doing burn outs or donuts shock work shruggy
I wonder if Richard Rawlings from gas monkey garage doing donuts in almost every episode of that show may have led to this person wrecking their car work shruggy

I have a late model Mustang GT and a over-powered(read stroked low deck BB)69 B'cuda. The one thing I know is that you need to point them both straight before you get busy with the right foot........something I see missing from almost every car show exit mishap. These guys seem to want to get busy while the car is still turning from the show exit....a guaranteed recipe for disaster with ANY car capable of breaking the rears loose.

I never jump on my cars leaving shows...the neighbors hate it, the folks putting on the show hate it, the cops hate it! I always wait until I'm out of town on a clear/open highway. Then it's game on! drive

Every time there is a single vehicle accident involving the vehicle hitting an object, there is only 1 person who is at fault . The driver. No amount of ego/arrogance/BS excuses changes that.
