17-18:1 is pretty common on smaller comp eliminator engines From memory, Pro Stock engines are supposed to be around 15-16:1

These are the pistons in my 982 hp, 572-13 headed 549. Best timing is 34.5 degrees, methanol fuel. 4.50 bore, 4.315 stroke. The dome was custom designed at Diamond pistons. Compression ratio 15.25. Max power at 7600 rpm
8.582, 160.18 mph best, 2905 lbs 549, indy 572-13, alky
