17-18:1 is pretty common on smaller comp eliminator engines
From memory, Pro Stock engines are supposed to be around 15-16:1

A long time ago we had a 16.5 to 1 small block Mopar.

It ran great but it split the cylinder walls on two poured, but stock blocks.

The most I have since been able to get out of R3W9 engines has been about 13 to 1.

Much larger cams that require much larger valve reliefs.
