All they have for a '71 B-Body is a fuel injection tank.

All they have for a '71 B-Body is a fuel injection tank. Call them. All their fuel tanks are built the same. There is a different sender that goes in place of the fuel injection pump/sending unit if you are using a standard mechanical fuel pump or an external electric pump. They are friendly and will get you the correct sender and fuel level sensor.

Rock Auto lists the usual but also a stainless-steel tank. https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/dodge,1971,charger,7.2l+440cid+v8,1079265,fuel+&+air,fuel+tank,6268

I don't need to get fancy with a $400.00 stainless tank, but Dorman & a couple other galvanized tanks are listed. I always thought AMD was the standard for sheetmetal & tanks with our old stuff?? I need to know what fits & functions the best here - & doesn't leak. I've heard of some reproduction tanks leaking.

Thanks for the replies. I ordered a Spectra tank from Rock Auto today. I looked for a dealer on Spectra's website & called a parts store near me that I use, but they looked it up & said they couldn't get one from the local distributor. Spectra looks like good tanks - they are an OEM supplier.

several years ago, i replaced the original tank on my 69 charger. i was torn between a spectra tank from rock auto, and a stainless tank from van's auto. at that time, there was only a few dollars difference between the two tanks [$25-$30.00 ?], so i went with the stainless tank from van's. got a new stainless fill neck from them as well. the only issue i had was with the fill neck to tank grommet. i had several new ones on hand to choose from, including a couple of OEM mopar, generic replacements, and the one that came with the tank. the new mopar ones didn't fit the tank and fill neck together, although they fit each individually. i used one of the generic ones, as it seemed to fit the tank and fill neck the best, and luckily, there has been no leaks. [knock on wood. ]
