Just saw this listing so I thought I would post something in case someone is interested.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/356014012331

This RR was on BAT last year and was advertised to have sold for close to 100K USD ( (https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1971-plymouth-road-runner-15/). It has now shown up on FeeBay being sold by a seller with a non-local to the car area code and close to zero feedback. The sale listing also doesn't appear to have a reserve in place.

While all of that may not be entirely problematic, the photos in the sale are recycled from BAT and the seller talks about the black color of upholstery in this car's "cabin."

Hmmmmm... Thoughts?

At the very least, I'd be asking for entirely new photos and documentation to get posted. The seller's purported area code is in Texas, but I don't think many people are saying "cabin" out there either.

Probably going to be a problem for whoever the high bidder is, as in them sending a deposit, etc.

I'm sure eBay will take care of any problems, if there are any...

I've seen "cab" and "cabin", and "rig" - which I always associated with commercial trucks - used for any vehicle.
But using someone else's photos is a red flag, and one feedback for gym shorts isn't a confidence builder.
Bids could be fakery, too.

Hadn’t really thought about the truck reference and that could explain the wording. I’ve got a fair amount of time around aviation so cabin always makes me think of multi-place aircraft and not cars.

Look at the listing much closer.... more red flags then a battle ship on fire.

Twitter of same says person is in North Carolina. Ad says car is in California. Phone number in ad comes back to Texas.

Expensive car with no reserve, seller has just a few feed backs.

Whatever.

STOP POTATO HATE!

It is a fake ad... and a scam. I called on a 70 RR with a very similar nearly identical ad, no answer, left a message, then, 3 hours later, I get a call back from that number from a very hard to understand, very broken english speaking individual claiming they represent the car owner thru consignment and wanted a card number that wouldnt be charged unless the deal went thru for % fee and for me to sign up with him to bring me in contact with the seller for any questions I had about the car or to potentially buy it now.. I started laughing...

They literally took the pictures from a yr old bat ad, put them in the ebay ad, and had a brief description with the vin listed and their phone number. It wasnt under priced like most fake ads either.

Since then ive noticed quite a few of them and somehow they continue to fly under ebays security. All with a username dating back to the 90's or early 2000's, with a few, less than 10 feedbacks, and 100% positive rating.

I had a weird one about a month ago.

There was a very nice White 71 GTX 440 4 speed on E-bay.
The car was up with no reserve. I bid and won the car for under 35K.
The seller totally ghosted me. never made contact with me. i tried repeatedly to contact him.
Had Ebay contact him.....
Never heard from the guy.

I knew I wasn't getting the car for my bid price.
It ran on BAT about a year ago and bid up to 70k or so and did not hit reserve.

Not sure what the deal was I would have thought if it was a scam he would have asked for a deposit or something and disappeared.
I guess he just let the car run w/out a reserve didn't get what he wanted and said F it and pulled a Houdini.

It's a nice 71 B body.

^^^ Maybe the clown was already in jail for something else by the time the auction closed ?

Had one probably a couple years ago - an ad on Hemmings showed up on my daily feed.
Photos were of a car I'd bought a year or so earlier, which was & still is sitting in my garage.
I contacted Hemmings, and they yanked it off their site by the next day.

It sure sounds like it! For the record, the main reason I noticed the yellow RR scam listing was because I was aware of the car when it sold the first time. At that time it was of interest because its VIN is very close to my own V-Code RR's. They were built on the same day, at least according to the fender tag from the original BAT listing.

Hope all these scammers get caught and no one loses any money in the process.

If they lose less than $5500, the Federal Reserve is going to refund it to them. I got this email yesterday:

Good day,

The Director of the Internet Crime Complaint Center Department (IC3) has discovered that your records indicate that you are eligible to receive restitution for one or more of the internet fraud schemes youve been a victim of. The fraudsters were apprehended and have been prosecuted and sentenced.

The Federal Reserve Bank has been mandated to pay each victim an amount of USD $5.5,000.00 as restitution.

You are required forward your reference number to the email which is also stated below.

Ref: ABP-JK/2710-UNL615/276

Sincerely,
Lorie K. Logan.

I've got to say, I'm impressed by the creativity of this one. If you've already lost money to an internet scam, you're gullible enough to believe the government is here to help you. Maybe enough to give someone your bank info so they can deposit your refund.
