Andrewh master A Joined: Feb 2003 Posts: 8,754	sorry this is where being cheap gets you stranded. the zip tie could easily slide down and render that clamp useless. spend a few more bucks and get vice grips instead. you don't need the zip tie then.

I went back and looked. Either the pliers have been there a very long time, or their original condition was pretty questionable... That would be loads of fun on the positive battery post. I fixed my battery connection, but when I closed the hood, there was all kinds of sparks & stuff! I don't know what happened, the pliers wasn't near anything, I checked real good before I closed the hood.

It had a pair of vise grips on the Pos. cable (positive ground), they were eaten a bit by the acid. I still have them and use them occasionally but not for battery posts www.tandmautomotive-omaha.com

Change them out about every few years. On the 3rd set, been on the car since 2011, 100,000 + miles.
