A friend of mine has used Oregon Cams to regrind the face on OEM hydraulic lifters to re-use them. He has had good luck with the service. Has anyone else used Oregon Cams for this or have any comments? Thanks.

A lot of the Slant guys use Oregon. Never heard any complaints yet.

Wonder if they're grinding them flat or with the original curve...would require some very specialized equipment.

I appreciate all the responses. I am amazed at how old this technology is and how it seems to be coming back.

Something to consider is at what Radius is the lifter ground? I use Rockerarm Specialist in Redding as they grind on an 80" radius, some others grind on a 100" radius which spins the lifter a bit slower. YRMY Do you have a link, I am getting confusing search results.

I would bet a large amount of money that they don't refinish the lifters themselves I've been to their shop before they sold the business the first time before the one partner died, I have dealt with Gary since he took the business back and moved it into Redding and sold it again to the current owners, I think they are still operating it, I have not heard of anyone on here using them to refurbish flat tappet lifters. Rocker arms yes Lifters no
Mr.Cab Racing and winning with Mopars since 1964. (Old F--t, Huh)

Does the OP want to have lifters reground out of justifiable fear of using the new ones that are out there, or is it due to having obscure parts that can't be bought new anymore? Door #1, fear of using the new Chinese junk that is out there.

Hylift Johnson still made in the USA, and the very last one as far as I can find. If I was building a flat tappet engine this is where I would start first. Not found in Summit or Jegs ect., but you can get them directly thru them, or thru Hughes. They may sell these lifters to other various cam makers, but nobody selling cam and lifter kits will tell you whose lifters they sell so best to go right to the source. Don't be fooled when cam makers try to tell you not to mix cam and lifter brands. These cam companies don't make lifters at all, they buy them and rebox them and have for years. https://toplineauto.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/Lifter-Application-Catalog.pdfThis guy has three videos where he got some bad parts and eventually found a workaround for this problem. Salty language warning with this one so letting everyone know in advance. https://youtu.be/AgMYbNX2DMY?si=90RObJl7Z19cvx-v
