i got my "college edjamacation" in EFI when my best friend and i installed a late model LT1 in his 55 chevy belair.
to say that was a STEEP learning curve, would be an understatement for sure !
one thing that helped tremendously, was when i fished a complete cadillac FSM out of the dumpster at the local chevy dealership.
that provided the wiring diagrams necessary to get the car running, as well as the many trouble shooting methods to find out where we screwed up.
that car turned out to be a GREAT running [and driving] car, and a local fellow just HAD to have it, so after offering a STUPENDOUSLY ridiculous offer, the car was his.
since then, we have built several other vehicles for local guys, but none has been EFI equipped.

Hello Gene, I think I have come up with something that will work without cutting up the new pump. Because there is room for it, I am making a short extension to the top of the tank were the pump goes in using the old fuel pump locking ring and a flanged extension and the threaded part of the old Dakota tank on top for the new pump. I should gain 2 inches or more. I am on prototype # 3 so far.

I am going to need a 1992 Dakota fuel pump locking ring for the top but when I go looking for one there are no listings, they all start at 1994. Do you know if that is the same, it looks the same?

Ray, Can't help you with the locking ring deal, but I can tell you that at least the 92 the locking rings were not available for several years. The 90/91 is a completely different set up then the 92, but the 92 pump housing will work on the 90/91. The guys that tell you that also tell you to source the locking ring from a 92 tank. That leads me to believe the 94+ may be different as well, or it could be no one has tried one, or reported that they did try one, and it worked.

Information on this Dakota stuff and what fits and what doesn't has been hidden away for years, like its a trade secrete or something.
