Super cool story on the 442. Is that the car you've owned the longest in your collection? Guessing yes if you drove it some in high school and bought it in early college!

I don't want to hijack the thread with a non mopar car, but here is a thread about the whole story i did on Bangshift: https://bangshift.com/forum/forum/b...woke-up-after-23-year-hibernation-update

That was about 14 years ago. Since then I drove it on Power tour, Cars and cones Road Trip (like drag week except you autocross), Drag Week, Rocky Mountain Race Week, and Death Week. It's been very reliable.

You were in my hood!

He’s had his old Plymouth longer. I can’t remember what year the car is though? Late 40’s-early 50’s?

The joyride in the 442 was spring of 77. On September 17th, 1977 I bought a 48 Plymouth convertible, which I still have. Then I ended up actually buying the olds in the spring of 80. So the old Mopar has the most longevity around here.

Well, unfortunately, I am scratching Drag Week 2024. I was kind of iffy about it, because of not having the Hemicoupe ready. But yesterday my assistant/estimator at work, who helps make it possible for me to leave for weeks at a time, got rear ended on her Harley while she was stopped on the highway to make a left turn. She's still in the ICU. So I'll be sticking around here.

Good luck to everyone else, have fun and stay safe!

That’s terrible news, I was hoping to see the Olds on the live feeds.

Hopefully your assistant has a speedy recovery.

It will probably be a long recovery. She has several fractured vertebrae and a lacerated spleen. She was at a standstill, rear ended by kid going 55. Nailed her right in the back. I'm thankful she survived.
