Thanks Dave ! Sorry for the slow response.

A little progress on the road runner. We were able to remove the windshield without any damage to it, and so preserve my High school parking permit. I am pleased with the condition of the windshield pinch weld in that there is little rust to deal with.

Now would be a good time to replace that cracked dash pad.

That is on the to do list for sure.
I have had this pad stashed away for many years in a box on the shelf. I was happy to see there are still no cracks in it ! Looks like the date was August 2006 it was delivered !

I mounted the doors and fenders to check the gaps and alignment, then removed them to prime the bare metal cowl etc. with epoxy and prep those areas.

I am prepping the jambs for paint. In an effort to make some more room to work I decided to assemble the bumpers and store them as completed parts. I blasted the bumper mounts and painted them, rebuilt the turn signal and license plate lamps prior to assembly. I am reusing the front bumper as is but had to replace the rear due to the chrome pealing.

The rear bumper was damaged on the trip to Sebago Lake Maine in 1968 when the car was new. We were leaving the cottage with five passengers , a full trunk and the 16' MFG boat in tow. I was driving and when we came to a railroad crossing ,I failed to slow down enough when crossing the tracks. Something on the hitch caught and pulled the bumper rearward. It wasn't reaI bad and we were not delayed as a result. I had it repaired and rechromed in 1982 when I repainted the car, but it is now peeling behind the license plate where the damage started .

The hood is the last piece to be stripped. It needed blasting on the underside , but I was able to chemically strip the top.
