I'd whack the center out, sacrifice the inconvenience of two posts (one on each side) and reinforce the "pocketed" area. Not sure that'll help with the length of the roof on your project drool smile Any chace of a side addition or just raising the existing ceiling on one end? That might only require 1 post shruggy

i already added a side addition back when the roof trusses were re-done, and it's as close to my property line as is allowed by code here, and it follows the same roof line as the main garage so to look like it wasn't an afterthought.
actually, the addition is over the code line by 5 feet, but it's been over 7 years, so nothing can be done now. biggrin [me thinks being senior police commissioner has some "perks" at times. whistling]
i could go deeper into my lot, but the "boss" says NO because it would infringe on her flower garden[s] !
there is enough room to install a 4 post in the driveway, but that's not an option because i would get in trouble with the neighbors, plus it's no fun working in the rain or a blinding snow storm. laugh2
since i got my charger back on the road, the "eternal project" will receive much attention in the coming months, hopefully being able to drive around the block come late next spring.

Just got a Backyard Buddy on Sunday. We'll see how it holds up and works.

Drove a car on it and closed the garage door. Haven't done much else with it yet.

Bought the display model at Goodguys in Columbus. Had my buddy pull in the building with his roll back, picked it up, and then just rolled it off his truck into my garage.

Didn't plan on buying one this soon but, got a show special price and the convenience factor being so close to my house made the decision easy.

It's a tight squeeze, but I squeeze 3 in my 2 car garage. I mainly use it for storage of Charger #2. I do have the trolley jack for doing wheel changes & brakes though. I also added a winch for pulling non-running cars up the driveway and up onto the lift.

What size and brand lift do you have ? Would you do anything different in the lift that you bought?
