after looking at the parts you purchased, my guess is this, based on the ton of steering wheels and kits i have installed over the almost 60 years i have been playing with "full size" cars. the aluminum three hole splined adapter goes on first. then the large black "cap", followed by temporarily bolting on the steering wheel with the three "shoulder" bolts.[just snug the bolts to hold the wheel and column cap in position.] using the nut that comes with the column, tighten the steering wheel/column cap/three spoke splined adapter. remove the "shoulder" bolts, then position the tan horn contactor with the tan side up, lining up the holes the "shoulder" bolts go into. the horn contactor's holes are just a size or two larger than the holes in the contactor, allowing it to move up and down to complete the ground needed to send to the horn relay under the hood allowing the horn[s] to sound when it contacts the steering wheel. tighten the "sholder" bolts into the aluminum adapter, making sure the tan contactor moves freely up and down on the smooth "shoulders" of the bolts. attach the wire from the steering column to the small flat male spade on the contactor. the wire, small diameter spring, and the small black plastic tube may be needed to replace the wire on your column, but maybe not. just depends on the application. the small ring [which may, or may not be needed, depending on how the large spring's inside diameter fits the steering wheel retaining nut and column threads] goes on next, followed by the big spring. then carefully take your horn cap and position it over the big spring, and push down until it snaps onto/over the tan contactor. the big spring "lifts" the contactor from touching the steering wheel, preventing the completion of the ground circuit, until you push the horn cap, completing the circuit, thus blowing the horn. hopefully, i have explained this so you can understand it, and i haven't rambled on too long confusing the process. please let us know how you make out.

That's not how i did it. I found some different instructions than what came with the steering wheel. I left the black spring that came with wheel out. Then black plastic with "tower", then Metal piece with 3 threaded holes Then black metal "hub".
Now i'm having trouble finding the directions I followed......
Are you saying I dont use the black plastic piece with the tower? The way I have it now is the tower goes thru the round horn contact nt the wire then attaches to horn contact.....

I like speedway motors. Great help, great service. BUT, I dont understand why they dont have a set of directions to throw a steering column they sell onto a wheel adapter they sell onto a steering wheel they SELL!
I just looked at the pic of adapter kit i bought. The pic doesn't have what I'm calling the black plastic with a "tower".....do i even need this? I was able to attach the wire from horn contact to this. If I dont use it, where does the wire go?

Why would they? Speedway doesn't make them. Does the grocery store have recipes for how to cook stew because they sell the beef, potatoes, carrots, celery, onions, etc? No. Now if you would have asked why doesn't Grant have instructions, then yeah you'd have something.

Well, the black plastic with the "tower" on top came with the steering column. So, I have to use it so I can connect the black wire from horn collar( mounted under steering wheel.)
The black tower goes on first, the aluminum piece with 3 holes goes on next, the black metal hub next, steering wheel, the horn collar next spring and steering wheel HORN BUTTON. [my fix] ? sounds right. the black plastic "tower" just insulates the horn wire from wearing through. wish you could include pictures.

I think the black plastic with the tower has something to do with canceling the turn signal switch? Found it, i believe, on a flaming river viveo?
IMAGINE THAT......flaming river didn't sell me any of this, but they have directions that are one hell of a lot easier to understand than the vendor who actually sold me the parts.
Whatcha think about that SNIPER. Let me guess.....another smartass comment?
Oh yeah, I don't believe the grant end of it was giving me the most trouble . It was the column/adapter that threw me the most.
Have a great day.....

Have a great day..... Wasn't a smart assed comment i made, it was a legit question. Now a smart assed comment would be that Flaming River must be more used to dealing with dumbasses than Speedway, hence they had your answer. See the difference? Need any more educating? Yes, in case you missed it and you did, that was also a smart assed comment.

The column I bought had a 1 inch DD on the end. I bought a adapter to reduce it to 3/4 DD, the same size as what is coming out of steering box.
I'm sure I'll have to have something made to connect the two.....
I seem to remember it can be had either way. DD or splines....
