They got the motor and $20,000 from Dodge to race at Roadkill nights later this summer. They were going to put it in an old Dakota single cab but I dont think it was going to fit
Doesnt look like its going to fit in the duster either!

Looks like a ton of work and hacking up a pretty clean car. Tubular crossmember w/ a rack, move the master cylinder inside the car or under the floor, make a removeable trans tunnel, etc. Probably be easiest to run the exhaust straight up out of the hood...although w/ the master cylinder out of the way there may be room to go down under the car. Finding an older 1/2 ton dodge truck would probably make things a lot easier, although heavier and slower.
It's cool to be picked to do it, but the mad rush to build something like this sure isn't a challenge I'd be interested in. I couldn't bring myself to put a 6 cylinder in a 340 Duster, lol. No matter how powerful it is.

My thoughts exactly!

I can't see them butchering that duster for a one off event. They said they were looking for another vehicle in the background, I'd be down at the junkyard with the measuring tape
Another youtuber did this last year but with a hellcat motor, they thrashed to get it into a short bed ram, then the hired gun female driver from dodge that parachuted in (and didnt know how to drive it) lost horribly on its first pass and they were done. All that work for nothing.

I watch this stuff, but you have to ask.... WHY?? I understand they make their money with the Youtube channel but this is kind of dumb for sure
This all goes back to "real racers" not getting sponsorship so people like this can get money and parts to do "dumb things" just for views????? or company (chrysler) exposure......
Makes you think what our hobby is coming to

That engine looks too large for anything but a pick-up, as far as swapping into an older platform. Seems to me a better package would be a clone Lil' Red, don't ya think ? That would lend a bit of historical perspective, plus better fit.

The engine runs very well. My son has a 1500 4wd 2025 proto build. It's a strong runner for sure. 520hp I belive. Thats just the tip of the iceburg. Theres more left in it. As far as cutting it up? they own it, they can do what ever they desire. Jeff has a very nice Stock Eliminator Challenger. I've raced with him. Nice guy Doug

That engine is MASSIIVE and it's only 3 litres? I know a late model hemi slips in a Second Gen A body like it grew there....
Makes you scratch your head.
It's like the 5.0 Coyote motor. under the hood it takes up more space that a BOSS 429
the 340 looks like a tinker-toy by comparison, and i have a 440" 360 in an Early A body.
Everything is modular and attached to the basic engine. Two turbos (compound setup) and an intercooler are all in that package!
'63 Dodge 330 11.19 @ 121 mph Pump gas, n/a, through the mufflers on street tires with 3.54's. 3,600 lbs. 10.01 @ 133mph with a 250 shot of nitrous an a splash of race gas. 1.36 60 ft. 3,700 lbs.

Yes and YES! This is simply Stellantis promoting their V8 replacement. Problem is not only is the motor crap the public has COMPLETLEY rejected this engine. Hell, while they're at it might as well put an electric motor in an old mopar too- help promote ANOTHER failed Stellantis product.
Keep old mopars alive.

I think some here are out of touch with goverment regulations for emissions and economy. Even the electrics. Trust me if it wasn't for goverment laws electrics wouldn't be here, yet. The technology cost is astromical. Fuel economy and emisions regulations have to met. The fact that Stelantis wants to promote performance is a plus. As far as it not being accepted? It currently only powers one vehicle. Is it crap? How do we know? It hasn't been around long enough to have any data. I can say we've been towing with this engine in a Ram 1500 4x4 and it pulls a 24 ft enclosed with ease. I like the old stuff as well as anyone. The ram RHO has been said to run 13.1@105. Plenty of hot rod cars here that are slower. As a racer I'd love to see coroperate $ help. But why did that ever happen in the first place? To sell product. Face it this is business. The Chinese are coming. If you want to stay competitive you have to have a smart business plan. Doug

My 24 Ram has the 3.6 in it. I was really leery of it's ability to pull my trailer as my last 3 Rams were 5.7. After pulling the trailer it does a pretty good job, and is averaging 14.5 mpg pulling it at 65. My 5.7s got about 13.
I used to pull all over with 5.9s. They managed about 12.
Time marches on.

Its a 3.0L straight six twin turbo that replaces the 5.7 and 6.4 hemi. Standard output is 420hp and the H.O is 550hp. Its the standard power plant for all Rams now, 5.7 hemi gone.

I haven't read in about the architecture on this engine yet, but hopefully head fastener arrangement and the shortblock is designed extra stout. If so, there's no doubt that a forced induction inline has the ability to make a ton of steam. Have to look at the possible upsides I guess...
