My neoibor comes by every now and then and sees in.my box or needs something. Anyway some draws in my box have nice Snap-On used every now and then for that hard to get to stuff. He calls those draws show tools. Nothing in there is cheap but is the you really need it and glad ya gave it tools. Then there are the high dollar S-K and Snap-on gear wrenches, short, flare etc. But I also have some older Craftsman they used to call Pro Line? Nice USA long polished wrenches and ratchets.
And draws of a regular old USA made Crastman "V" wrenches ect, from way before I was old enough to own a car. Yes I had tools before my dad was a mechanic for some time. So my box and all my collected tools are a,real Gumbo of Snap-On, Proto, S-K, Various grades bbqbody Craftsman, Mac., Gearwrench and a few from.the Matco truck. No Tool snob here. But I sure run across some guys who are. So are ya a tool snob?

I have tools from a variety of sources, and though I can appreciate a top-line set, I've just bought what I needed from wherever. I'm a bit "funny" about keeping them clean & organized, but that's just sensible. I still have my "Pick-A-Part" tools in a small toolbox: stuff that could be borrowed or lost without me throwing a fit I've worked with and for guys who were all Snap-On, or all Craftsman, and both individuals turned out Indycar-level workmanship. It's really all about the user.

I have everything from Snap On to Globemaster. Lately I buy stuff off Amazon or Harbor Freight. At 66 I am not worried about them lasting a lifetime anymore.

I have Crapsman, S&K, snap-on, Proto, and a bunch of Harbor Freight stuff. 99% of the time if I grab a ratchet I grab a Harbor Freight one.

I'm a retired mechanic, so I've got a Mish mosh of stuff. But most recent purchases are harbor freight.
They've come a long way in the quality department and they have a couple stores near me so warranty is convenient.

I'm all over the place, too, on which brands I own. Some Snap-On, Mac and Matco, mixed with Husky, Craftsman, GearWrench and Harbor Freight. My one large multi-drawer Craftsman box has my primary tool set, but I have smaller boxes here and there which contain some stuff that I bought back in the '70s and can't bring myself to get rid of. It's definitely a collection with "international flavor" and runs the price range from over-priced to dirt cheap.

Most of mine is Snapon, Mac or Matco
IMO if your trying to make a living with tools . buy quality. Especially air tools. IMO the best 3/8"air ratchet on the market is Snap-On,,,,, bar none
Since I no longer turn wrenches for a living. Ive been replacing stuff with Harbor Freight as it breaks, which isn't very often Mostly just have their impact sockets and some screw drivers

Whats in a mans toolbox is his own personal business. For me like others I have a mix of high and low but what I have all works for me and that is all that matters. If something fails or is not up to the job its replaced. Other then a few specialty tools ive not bought much in the last 20 years.
Really id not let another dig through my boxes, none of there business.

Anyone that has used Hand tools to make a living understands and appreciates the value in the "Show" tools. A lot of my Snap-On/Matco hand tools are 40+ years old from my Auto Tech days. I still use them on a regular bases. I have other brands for various reasons but when I have a choice I defer to the "Show" tools.

In today's world, Harbor Freight has surpassed Craftsman and is making a run at other brands. It doesn't help that either brands are cheaping out. I no longer have ready access to Snap on, Mac, Matco indeed, the only truck still in area is Snap On. Very occasionally I see a Cornwell truck. But, the last 3 Snap on tools I tried to warranty or get repaired were met with shrugs. Hobo exchanges with a smile.

I have a very old Craftsman 10 drawer top box sitting on a 10 drawer ??? bottom box (I'm not sure it even has a name on it). Both are filled with an assortment of cheap to expensive, and now mostly well worn, tools. The last 30 or so years of my life was running a welding shop. Not a lot of need for high quality tools in a welding shop. There is a peg board on the wall that has a rack with lots of different size and shapes of Vice Grip plyers, and tools needed to perform welding activities. I'm afraid those too are showing the effects of years of abuse. The grinders (both air and electric), the Sawzall, hammers, punches and chisels, and an assortment of made for the job tools (that may or may not have been altered from their original use) that all occupy a work bench are about wore out too. The 30 + year old Miller mig, the 15+ year old plasma cutter, the 50 year old stick arc welder, the 30+ year old home made metal break, the 20 year old very large air compressor, and the 40 year old engine hoist all sit in their designated areas waiting for use (which they see less and less of these days).
No tool snob here. Just an old guy trying to get by. My son gets what ever is still here after I'm gone, its all his problem then.

Mostly Craftsman but I did buy two boxes from Cornwell loaded when I got my retirement payment from Motorola in 2006. Luckily those tools were at my shop when my garage burned down and took out my full Craftsman box and the tools. Insurance paid for my tools and a new box, but that mostly consists of Harbor Freight and imported Craftsman stuff. I did keep my burned box and tools, but don't trust them to do anything heavy duty as they were in the center of where the fire started...

mainly craftsman from 1972 up until Sears closed. Their quality started dropping the last 5 or 10 years and is clearly visible comparing to the earlier tools. Even the USA made ones. Most all the early ones are still doing their job and fetch a decent price on the bay. Snap offs are nice but the price ??? All the tools of yesterday far surpass todays offering IMO with a few exceptions. When I had 4 employees, there were 3 rethreading kits in the shop 1 Snap OFF 175.00 1 Mac Tools 125.00 1 Craftsman 50.00 All three kits were identical in every way except for the label in the depressed molded area on the top of the case. Even the instruction label inside inside was the same and all were made in the USA. It is sad what has become of so many things, I have a 40 year old air ratchet that was sold under the name of K- TOOLS, mader in japan and bought at the equivalent of HF. Still going strong. A new ingersoll rand copy of it made in (bet you can't guess?) hit the sh-tter after 2 years
