Looking for some recent experiences on what to use/avoid for tires for street use.
Have 15” x 7” wide steel wheels and looking to replace my “tired” TA radials.
Want a nice ride, good dry traction tire. Not worrying about race performance.
I’m lucky if I put 2K miles per year on the car.
Anything out there better than a new set of TA’s ?

M/T Sportsman S/T radials are better than the BFG Radial T/A tires if you're trying to stay with a white letter tire.
M/T radial tires are made by Cooper also.

For 15" consider the Nitto 555RII. They've got some cool 15" sizes. I have no personal experience but heard some very good reviews.
Seems they are good handling and very good traction. They have low treadwear rating. But do you drive it more than 5K miles a year?
If you don't drive it much, the tires end up cracking before the tread wears out.

If you don't drive it much, the tires end up cracking before the tread wears out. I have the older Nitto 555Rs on the rear of my coupe (275/60-15). The Nitto 555RIIs apparently have a different compound as they aimed the updated product at the newer factory sports rides, so low profile tires, etc., etc....still, I suspect that even at the max effort level our street/strip rides will never push the tire to it's max. Anyways...I like my current Nittos, but next time up I'll probably try the MT ET Street SS.

I've had Coopers, Mastercraft, Goodyear, Milestar, and Starfire tires on a variety of cars & trucks in the last few years. All have been fine, nothing bothersome with ride or noise or lifespan. I'll spend up for the performance stuff (track use), but usually my street cars' tires age out before wearing out. I've also used Coopers and Mastercraft with decent success. Right now I have Mastercraft Avengers 235/70/15 on my Diplomat Police Car and it gets driven less than 1000 a year. I like the tread pattern and American tire look on my vintage stuff. They look about as close as I can get to the old Eagle GT+4
Facts are stubborn things.

I used Cooper Cobra's 235/70/15..(255/60/15 rear) on my Duster, before I sold it a few months ago. They were great tires... gave zero problems.

If you go in person take Logan. Belle Tire and Discount Tire both give Veteran discounts of like 5 or 10%. Think Belle is 10% and Belle is 5%. Got mine at Belle because of the rebates and Memorial Day sale, it was like $5 more than Sam's club and worth it to save me from driving across town. Belle said they will match Sam's club pricing for the package if they can. Discount matches tire prices, but not the package. Thanks for the heads up. Hopefully I will see you at Fort Gratiot this year.
