For me the amount of answers that a question gets has dwindled dramatically. Many times only one or two people will chime in. I think people have gotten bored with the whole thing honestly. I don`t partake in the unmoderated section.

I think there are a few things at play:
The Infolinks deal drove a lot of people off the site, and I've heard a couple different reasons from those guys.
Some of the questions have either already been beaten to death, or are in the Archives.
Some folks simply cannot disagree or have a different answer/method/opinion, without becoming argumentative.
Some are just busier than years ago, or have juggled priorities, and just don't have a much free time.
And a few have likely just "aged out" or switched interests.

I've noticed a drop-off after about 8-9 PM PST and MST for a couple other forums, even Farcebook.
Me, I might shut down any time between 9 PM - Midnight, depending on the day I had, or if I gotta be up at 4-5 AM.
My point is, it's hard to pinpoint a reason, but I don't think it's necessarily a big deal...unless the knowledge base dries up.

I'm on Moparts every day - several times a day. However, I rarely post anymore - I just read whats happening and check the for sale section. I miss the airplane on a treadmill days!

I'm here numerous times a day. I read the Q&A forum, the race forum and the general forum then move on to B-body parts for sale and wanted and then race parts for sale and wanted.

As for Q&A, its annoying to see questions unrelated to cars. If you need legal advice, go to an appropriate site, if you need midical advice - call a doctor.

"I just spilled boiling french fry grease down my bare leg, what should I do ?"

People who submit answers on subjects they clearly know nothing about piss me off.

"Oh, you want to put butter on those third degree burns"

Seriously ?!?!?

People too lazy to do any research themselves piss me off.

"Who has the lowest price for a 1" bolt ?"

The list goes on. But you know what, THIS is still the best Mopar site !!!

"Oh, you want to put butter on those third degree burns"

It was found that applying butter was actually beneficial treatment for burns, IF it was refrigerated and applied promptly, the butter had nothing directly to do with the benefit, it was mainly just an adequate medium to quickly cool the burn affected area for less than 3rd degree burns..

Regardless, I get your point.

Sometimes it's disheartening responding to questions. Someone asks a question about something I know something about. I reply with what I feel is an acceptable response. Result? Crickets. No "it worked", "it didn't work", "the problem was"...just crickets.

OR...the OP then starts arguing with me..."no, it can't be that because my buddy said so....". Yeah, disheartening.

That is just poor manners, like no response when holding a door open for a stranger, I don't get it, and I wasn't raised that way.

I'm getting older. These performance era related questions, based on things from 50 years ago, are getting pretty far back in my memory. I pulled wrenches until the mid 1990s for a living, before I change my carrier, those wrench pulling years are pretty far back there too.

Let the "new experts" exhort their wisdom. I'll correct the answers that are way off base, or add some of the experience I remember, but for the most part, visiting here is for my entertainment. I drop in almost every day, but seldom stay more then an hour or so.

Not much here relates to me current life.

I don't think it's has anything to do with the site itself. I agree that declining activity is part of the aging out of members. "Old" cars to many now are 80's and 90's cars, mostly junk to us.

Maybe membership is down, I don't know, but tell me a site with more (or even as many) SUPER knowledgeable Mopar guys. I don't think one exists. I've gotten so much help here! I wish I could provide more answers and less questions but you guys blow me away with your knowledge. I'm as much a Mopar fanatic as exists, but I don't have your hands on knowledge. I wish I did!

Yeah, but will it work on both penguins and hippos? And will it allow you to become airborne from a treadmill?

The side topic of the reason of reduced traffic on moparts, I rest my case.

I’m surprised no one has mentioned the newer generation Mopars (post 2008) being a factor.

For obvious reasons: Retro looks, performance enhancements , too many tech advanced to count, etc. etc.

Many have moved over to forums more related to such.

Ive noticed in recent years there isnt near the traffic as in years past.

Doesn't seem like that long ago, if you made a post in was buried 3 pages in the next day. Now posts can stay first page for days

Not going to mention any names but some sites seem to do very well. A more general site like here doen`t seem to get the activity that others do or did here years back. This site seems to be more of a social site not as much for Q&A.
