I am going to be setting the pinion angle on my Dart soon now that I have the engine/trans. in the car. I haven't decided yet on what size tires I'm going to run on the rear but it will be either 29x12.5x15 or 275-60-15's. How much of a role does rear tire diameter play when setting the pinion angle?

None.

Pinion angle is the difference between the axle pinion centerline and the driveshaft centerline.

I’m sure you will get a multitude of comments on how and what to set it to.

Depends on suspension type, trans type, race or street.

69 Dart with MP XHD springs, 727, street driven.

Correct, zero.

I will withhold further comment. drinking

If the results don't match the theory, change the theory.

For street driving you can use factory specs. You really wouldn't want to drag race much with XHD springs since they'll wrap up and beat things to death.

In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. In practice, there is.

I would shoot for between 3 and 5 degrees difference between the drive shaft and the pinion shaft angles with the differences forming a V pointed up towards the floor boards with it in neutral on a very FLAT surface wrench scope up wrench

Mr.Cab Racing and winning with Mopars since 1964. (Old F--t, Huh)
