Spoke to him twice on the phone (garage door liftmaster advice), he was truly a nice guy! RIP Stu, your passing was a loss to many people.

i also talked to Stu on the phone about replacement garage doors and openers.
taking his advice, the doors he recommended as well as the openers, has worked flawlessly since their install many years ago. they were a little more money than some, but time has shown his advice was spot on.
i sure miss him, although we never met in person. he seemed to have a great sense of humor, and everyone he came in contact with got the treatment they were his friend.

I never met Stu in person but did spend a long time on the phone with him as he walked me through a garage door repair I needed. I was in New Jersey, and he was in California. He was truly one of a kind.

Yep, Stu was good guy. I had some business to do in the Norcal area years ago and visited him a couple of times at his house. He would grill something up and we would eat and have a few beers. His wife and the daughter I met were nice people also. RIP Stu. angel

Clubhouse! I was trying remember what he called that great garage he had. I kept thinking playhouse but I knew that was wrong so I just left the name out of my post. Thanks!

The Clubhouse was quite the setup. You couldn’t meet nicer people. Be interesting to know if she kept the Roadrunner. Rico probably knows. On another note the wife and I were in town so called him and on the fly invited us over. Cooked up some steaks, put on a real spread. He’d like to play jokes on people. While we were sitting there eating, the radio playing all of a sudden the broadcaster on the radio announced an emergency broadcast message. I can’t remember the exact text but it had something to do with an earthquake. My wife and I looked at each other and I looked at Stu. He just carried on like not her happened. For a minute I was concerned but just went on with my meal. Later that evening before we left I asked Stu about the radio message. He just smiled.

Stu helped me several times with DIY garage door repairs. If he told me once, I bet he told me 3 times that the 3/8 ratchet extension I was using to wind the spring would bust my brains out if I let it slip. The 1st time he told me that, I asked him how he knew that was what I was using. He laughed and said that everybody that has never heard one whistle by their head still uses them....until the learn better. Stu was one heck of a great guy that I never got to meet in person. If I have friends pass away, I typically remove their cell number from my contacts so I don't fat finger it and upset their family members if they have retained friends phones. Stu's was one of the really hard ones to let go. frown R.I.P. Stu angel

i remember him telling me about winding up the spring, not to use a small/short item [like the 3/8" ratchet handle above], so i made up two long large diameter [1"/1 1/8"] "winders", machined on the ends to fit the winder holes.
that way, i could wind up with one and clamp to the roof truss, then insert the second winder, have a good grip on it, then release the first. just rinse and repeat. that method worked great, and my head and teeth thanked Stu profusely for that tip ! bow biggrin

Yes,it looked like his parking situation was challenging to say the least. Not uncommon in SF.

His wife cleaned out the garage so the Roadrunner can fit in it.

Remember all his exhaust changes? I swear he tried 4 different versions over the years on that car. Most were pretty wierd.

Not sure whether Stu ever knew it or not, but he helped put my art on the map when he had me do this cartoon of his Road Runner. Before the side pipes... 2008 was a very long time ago!
