Dang....you gave me a flash back I'd long forgotten about, lol. When I would get a tick on me as a kid, my Mom would put a spoon up under it and stick a cigarette to it's butt to make it back out! That just grossed me out for some reason! I finally just quit confessing that I had one stuck on me and pulled them off myself!

i pick em off me all the time... dog and deer as well now as the white spotted tick- i was told it takes 24hrs for them to be on your skin b4 u have to worry - my doc gave me a script for doxy incase i find one thats been on me for some time... take it for a couple/few days and i am good... till the next bite

The Blacklegged tick, which is much smaller that the one in your photo, is the one that carries Lyme Disease. I've had many of both sizes on me & fortunate that I never contracted anything. I did land surveying for years & was constantly pulling these bastards off of me. My wife & my son have both had Lyme & it sucks. In my son's case he got it very young, maybe a year old. We never saw a tick on him or a bite mark. We did see about a dozen bullseye rashes all over & he ended up with a fever.

my buddy got bit by the lone star.... after a steak dinner became violently ill, taken to hospital, could not figure out the cause ... for bout a year afterwards, could not eat red meat... the bugs keep gettimg stronger and stronger - i blame it on the Chinese...

End of June ‘14…10 years ago…jeez…had a small rash that I checked up to ripping out and wood chipping my forcythias…wearing shorts🙄…couple of days go by, I developed a bad fever then this little rash turned into a monster. Went to ER, blood work, came back I was going into septic shock, IV antibiotics for a week…doctor said if I waited another 24 hours, they wouldn’t have been talking admission, they’d have been preparing for amputation from the hip down, was into the bone. They said they thought I was bitten by a wolf spider or a brown recluse…or a bad tick, being as I also was positive for lymitis I think they said. Then ended up with hip replacement in same hip 4 years ago and 2 stents 3 years ago…they think possibly all attributed to that bite in ‘14…who knows. Was really, really sick for the first few days in the hospital, I’ll tell you that. Hate those bastards…and mosquito’s!

So far so good. No rash, no marks, no problems.
