Well, it hit me Monday afternoon. Called 911, went to the ER, no sirens. Doc checked me out, gave me more nitro. Ruled outa blood clot from my recent hand surgery. Confirmed with the on call cardiologist. Since I wasn’t showing symptoms so the sent me home with nitro.
Got up the next morning, Tuesday, did some things around the house then at around 10:30 chest pains hit, took a nitro, no affect, took another 5 minutes later and no change, maybe worse. 911 again, paramedics hooked me up to the EKG and the readings were all over the place. After them giving me a handful of aspirin and more nitro they loaded me up and off we go, sirens blazing. Got to the ER, they were ready in case I went into cardiac arrest. After more nitro and some pain med the wheeled me down the hall. Hooked me up to another EKG. Laying there I saw my wife watching the EKG (retire cardiac nurse) she suddenly got excited and told the nurses there that the EKG was going crazy. Two techs showed up within a few minutes and wheeled me to the cath lab.
Ended up with two stents in an artery that was 90% blocked. Went back in the next day and got three stents in another artery that was 90% blocked
See the doc on Tuesday, I’m hoping they don’t decide they need to do bypass.

I’d be looking for new hospital and doctors, they SHOULD have known what was going on the first time you went! Glad you made it!! ER rooms are where the newbie starts out, Always demand to see the main doctor, your life depends on it. All they good for is treating cuts and bruises.

We have an appointment with the hospital director next week. When I told my cardiologist she was pissed.

Wow, scary I'm sure. As written already, glad you decided to seek help immediately!
Hope you recovery fully, and soon.
Sadly, because of costs and insurance EKG's aren't done with most regular checkups. I have a "VIP" doctor and he did EKG along with many other tests that aren't considered routine. I had to pay a lot but I think it's worth it. I'm of the opinion children should have an EKG early on to ensure there's no genetic issues with heart.
Facts are stubborn things.

As a "veteran" of three heart attacks, numerous heart catheter labs, and one open heart surgery.... I know all too well, how scary it all can be. With that, I'm glad to hear you are doing better. My last catheter lab visit was just back in late February, because I had recurring chest pains too. My cardiologist found no new blockages this time luckily, but he did start me on a certain version of nitro. It's a slow release pill that lasts throughout the day, called Ranolazine. I take it once in the am, once at night, along with daily aspirin/plavix. Haven't had any issues since he started me on this. You may want to ask your Dr. about it...to see what she thinks. Oh yeah, eat/drink as HEALTHY as possible...lots of Omega 3 rich foods ( think salmon/mackerel etc.)...drink a lot of water too. Too much sugar, salt, red meat, booze, carbohydrates ...are your mortal enemies... I wish you all the best!

And what’s wrong with a bypass???
Had a quad in September as a result of just a routine checkup. In the grand scale of things … no big deal. 4 days in the hospital and about eight weeks recovery. In your current condition you’d be an idiot to turn it down.
At least lay off the Big Mac’s !! I can fully understand the OP's trepidation about bypass surgery. ANY surgery is a big deal, no matter what anyone says...nothing is guaranteed. I went in for a simple outpatient stent procedure, years ago, and ended up in the ICU 9-10 hours later, waking up on a ventilator with tubes sticking out everywhere. All I remember before blacking out... people were scrambling all around me, and panicking voices. The idiotic/moron cardiologist punctured one of my arteries, while trying to place the stent. If the thoracic heart surgeon on staff, hadn't been there on a different floor, that day...I wouldn't be typing any of this... and my wife would be a widow. So if the OP needs a bypass, make damn sure you ask for the most experienced/best Dr. to handle it for you.

Hope all will be well very soon. This has been my worry for a year now. Last winter a year ago my chest felt bad, so far this winter almost everything is good.

Dartforte, glad you paid attention I have had many stents, almost easier that getting a cavity filled. BYPASS? I had a triple almost 7 years ago. Things went sideways and I was in IV's of Propofol and Fentanyl for 4 weeks. I am not sure to this day what all went wrong but even my GP told me later he thought for sure I would not come out of it. While most go well, some do not  4 more weeks of rehab and I was able to come home. It was 12-14 months before my brain completely unscrambled. I did get blessed with tremors ( which I still have) and a few other minor issues. Fortunately I've never had an actual heart attack as I have always paid attention to what my body was telling me. this due to my father dying at age 36 from arterial sclerosis. While i'm genetically predisposed, years of smoking and drinking didn't help. Haven't had either one since. Like what better time to give them up  , My reason for sharing this is in hope it may make someone else pay attention. As far as the upcoming meeting, I would request those that sent you home be present so they are embarrassed and learn that their mistakes almost cost a life
