Speedmaster heads aren’t made in china?
I thought April fools day was over a week ago. Yes they do have manufacturing in china, the distribution enters are in us and auzie land. Guess I read their page wrong,, or they made their page look like it was not chinese made products. Either way, still like to know I anyone is currently using their stuff or has used their products.

My assessment would be that for the most part the Chinese heads have gotten better over the last 5-10 years. I get them(Chinese heads) in the shop for a look over and/or some tweaks fairly regularly. It’s not often I come across something bad enough where it was likely it would have caused an issue down the road.
Of course, if no one looks at them, then it’s a crap-shoot……… and something like this gets missed. This was particularly poor seat machining, which would likely have become problematic had it been left like this. This example was a SM RPM style BBM head(which I haven’t seen them offer in several years).

Well $800 bucks lighter in the wallet, I have some heads I can run on that little engine. Probably have the shop check them, just in case.

I’ve touched and ported over 15 sets so far and have four more set’s sitting here waiting to be ported. Edelbrock guides I’ve found to be a hair on the tight side to my liking. Speedmaster heads are a touch on the loose side which I like. I did find one intake guide that was .003 over so I changed that one. You will probably find the valve springs are set up to lose so check that out. Valve job is your typical basic valve job. Lots and I mean days worth of reading on forabodiesonly about these heads pinned in the small block area. From flow numbers to porting tech.

The Speedmaster intake is a dual plane basically copied from an LD4B on the bigger runner LD340. I ported one and it was ok but I personally would never run on except on maybe a very mild street car. I bought it during the 40% off Black Friday sale for my son in Colorado but sold it after I ported it. To many better intakes out there. If you got your heads for 800.00 you got a good deal this time of year. They are around 1190.00 off Speedmaster or summit. I paid around 733.00 a pair for complete heads during the sale.

It was a Facebook market deal. Guy had a falling out with a rooked machine shop and was unloading his unused parts. He gave me such a deal, I got him info on some parts he couldn't' find to finish project.

PCE in the part number is Pro Comp products right? I built a BB Chevy w/ a set of the Pro Comp 320 cc heads on it. They hadn't been run very long before I went through it, but it had some severe valve guide wear. Soft materials.

PBR, what kind of flow did you get out of the intake ? I'm putting it on a .030-over 340 in a '68 Valiant that still has J heads - will upgrade later - in a relatively mild street/strip build. Heads on the thing are probably fairly weak, 1.88 intake valves, cam is 233/240 @ .050, .474 lift, on 110 straight up. Converter seems to be a bit above 2500 stall. It's getting my old 750 DP, 4.10s & 255/60 drag radials - no more room until until the manly tools get put to use. This is going to be a little confusing as when I posted this on forabodiesonly years ago I explained it as I went along. One of these tests were done along with my sons old style Torquer intake. These test were done on a stock set of Speedmaster heads and a slightly ported set (280 cfm) try to follow the notes above the tests.

Almost everything they make is a copy (ripoff) of something a US manufacturer designed and made. I don't support companies like that, because it hurts the companies that put in all the R&D work to bring the original part to the market. How would you feel if you put a lot of time and money into making a product, just to have someone copy it in China and sell it as your competition for less money? This video just got posted a couple days ago about a valve body design they stole. https://youtu.be/9dsHrSq8pso?si=pxSuU8HzrP1Utabs Sounds like a good plan. Where is your cell phone, tv, dishwasher, washer and dryer, carper, furniture, car parts, toys, rv vehicles, booze, some food, gasoline, tools, and everything else you use daily made at.
