I hope that 340 hasn't been stored that way for long, or at least has been thoroughly covered protecting from dirt and moisture.

If the looks of the rest of the stuff he is trying to sale, the motor has probably been stored outside for a while.

And, there is no way what he is offering anywhere close to $3000.

Agree. And the crud all over the engine appears to have occurred sitting outside unprotected.

I would love to build a 340 motor, but at the cost of the blocks alone, I will do a 360 if i need a small block.

Same, and that's what I've done three times (well, not build myself lol). I've had two Mopar Performance Magnum 360 crate engines. Can you believe the first one I bought in 2000 was only $3k?! Intake to oil pan rated at 300hp/375tq and it was definitely every bit of that. I bought another years later from someone who had bought one and never removed from crate. Now I have a 408 stroker which is super healthy. I have the extra cubes at a lessor cost than the 340. Granted, the 340 is legendary and a great engine so it would be nice but economically speaking.....

It is if you’re trying to sell a stolen car or fake more money out of somebody. One thing Barry W. And I have a common understanding on, that swapping vin numbers from one car to another is a big no-no. I don’t care if it was a 4 door slant six car, vin tags should never be swapped ever.

I agree Vin swapping of any kind is a big no-no.

I'll play devil's advocate here. Seems to me, that the eBay seller
is selling the 340 ( which looks awful btw just sitting in dirt)... from a wrecked Challenger...per his words.
What comes with the engine, is the dash from said Challenger, which has got
the matching VIN number, to match the VIN on the engine block, and matching title for the wrecked car. Which proves it WAS a 340 car.
I don't know what is in his heart...but he is certainly asking waaaay too much for that stuff.
If someone were to buy his stuff, hopefully they would do the right thing, and NOT swap that
dash into an existing 318 or /6 Challenger.. .
