This is some of the info I’m looking for, thanks to all so far. Wanting to know what happens if using the two together, yes I have the rancho shocks plus the adjustable fronts, also no factory rubber bushings in front, lca, uca and strut, very free moving. 9” radials 5.13 gears 4600 dynamic vert low gear 904. Frame tied and cm cage, front to back That's gonna sing on the top end. My IHRA Stock crate motor combo was maxed out with 4.86 gears, 4400 converter that flashed 49-54 footbraking, depending on weather, and weighing 3,540. Other specs appear the same or very similar. I think you'll be happier in the long run with a full Cal-Trac set-up. Mixing parts will likely cause a steeper learning curve to adjust and difficulty in optimizing it, even if you use matching leaf springs instead of bias SS versions. Cal-Trac leaf springs will obviously reduce weight and may last longer than SS springs. Less adjustments as springs get old. But I haven't tried Cal-Tracs w/SS springs or know anyone who has.

What I want to hear and will probably go with 4.88 and S/S springs (I’ll make up a snubber)

With an auto you should be OK without a snubber, the 4 speed cars used tthem. I sort of made my own short one just as a safety issue. Been running SS springs for 50 years, still do. Wound up messing with clamps on the front segment, two on the right, one on the left. Hooks hard and goes down through there like a New Yorker.

My car is a factory 4 speed car. I currently run A body SS springs. (002-003). Bin on the car for well over 30 years. NO snubber. Rear shocks are set tight on the rebound, loose on compression. Front shocks are 90/10’s. Car weighs close to 4k with me in it. It 60’fts in the 1.5 range. Snubbers are not needed with SS springs. The front segment is so stiff, it acts like traction bars. Just my 2 cents.
4 speed street legal. Best time 10.99 @ 124 mph on 93 octane pump gas @ 3926# total weight

My old W5 Duster( many know it on here) ran well in the 9’s on 002/003 springs at 3350 pounds. Nothing but CE 3 ways all around, no snubber, would hook anywhere, dial it blindfolded, super consistent wheelstanding crowd pleaser. This on 28 by 10 DOT tires. Frankly, at that power level, I heard more guys constantly fiddling with Cal Tracks than I ever heard with 002/003 leafs getting them to work. A car either works or it doesn’t. If it doesn’t, you have to change something, but if it does work, “ upgrading” isn’t going to make it work better.
