My preference is……whenever possible……..to use “known good” carb and ignition components at the beginning of a dyno session.

That being said, the curve certainly looks like it was still climbing nicely when whatever couldn’t keep up…….. gave up.

We usually do that to but it gets expensive to keep a stack of distributors on hand. In this case we didn't have the correct distributor on hand to run his engine with a carb.
