Maybe I've been seeing too many 2nd gen Charger prices, but these FMC's seem w-a-y too cheap. Ad was posted two weeks ago.

We have four fmc, all have 440 motors.
None currently run(have been down for many years).
We have units as low as $1000 and up to $2500.
All depending on condition, and whether or not they have rare desirable Alcoa rims.

My guess is that almost anyone looking for an RV wants a modern one. An old one would be very hard to get rid of, especially one made out of fiberglass or material that has no value. Those FMCs are cool looking, but how many people are actually buying something like that?

Sadly a lot of Rv parks keep limit on older models of campers/RV. If so many years old then wont let you stay there. Park in the field and use it for a hunting stand lol

These things were over $50,000 when new.

They had a 440 and 727 mounted at an angle in the back behind the axle if I remember correctly.

They had a feature that you could incinerate your sewage while screaming down the highway.

(Take THAT tailgaters.)

My old man bought one of these used for something like $30,000 about 30 years ago.

He never used it, just let it sit.

The roof started leaking, it wouldn't run any more, so he had it towed off the driveway at home, to the back lot of his business, where it sank in the mud, and continued to rot.

Stinking, filthy mess.

When he died, we gave it away.

There is a guy in Broadwell, Illinois that restores them and takes out the 440's and puts in Cummins diesels. He takes old Fed Ex trucks and uses the drivetrains from those. He is right off of I-55 and you can see a dozen of them in his yard waiting to be done...

Having just bought an RV I can tell you several reasons I wouldn't have bought one of these (or any coach of that vintage). First and foremost is that my wife wouldn't ride in one (and she likes the old cars), they lack comfort, and the fuel mileage is beyond poor. We did buy an RV powered by 440 cubic inches, but it's a 330hp Cat 3126 with over 800 gt lbs of torque. It probably gets twice the mileage of that old gas pusher...1320 cubic inches in this pic...

My grandparents looked at those back in the 70's but ended up with a Cruise Air front-engine rig. Grandpa said they looked really modern (for the time) instead of looking like an aluminum wrapped cement block, but they were notorious for overheating, especially in the mountains.

I drove that one with the Duramax, or else one just like it, about 10 years ago. It was really nice, and I was tempted to buy it, except it was rear heavy. The front sat high because of the weight of the Duramax, and the owner said he had to keep the freshwater tank which is mounted in the front at least half full. I think he was asking 40 or 50 grand at the time.

One thing to be aware of on these is that they are known for a structural issue, sagging in the middle. Because they don't have a frame. It's a fiberglass tube. Most of the restorers jack them up and install a steel frame.
I think they're really cool. But the newer stuff with three slide out rooms really provides for a lot more living space.

Probably one of the best made motor homes for the last 40 years. Built by a company that made government and military equipment. Friends had one, post a video on YouTube on how nice it ran and they used it for camping and trips to the race track. If I was going to buy a rv and convert it, that would be the model on my first-to-use list.
