I also enlarge the oil drain holes on the top of the cam tunnel about double what they come at. I also drill a small hole in the China wall in the front of the block to allow oil to go down the front of the block. Other wise all it gets is splashed off the crank up there. Important for gear drives and timing chains both. Wash, wash and wash it again......Todd

Thanks Todd coffee can you explain a little more on the china wall shruggy

I'm pretty sure this is what Todd was referring to, #1 and #2 lifter galley pictured. Todd built our 655. Apologies for butting in here Todd.

Update.... thread chase all the bolt holes on this block (I was surprised on all the crap that came out of some of the holes) open up the drain hole on top of the cam tunnel to 5/8's ,any ideal of the size of the hole on the China wall on the front side of the block?

I put 9/32 holes at the bottom point of the web v and out the front. The thinking was to try keep oil off the rotating assy.

One thing that was not discussed is seating the sleeves. My shop (Opel Engineering) will take a brand new aluminum block, torque an o-ringed iron head on each side and put it in the hot tank for a couple hours. You'd be suprised how many sleeves drop from this process. If not done the sleeves will drop after some heat cycles and may cause head gasket problems. There have been a few posts on the sleeve dropping subject.
